  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • Well, i discovered computer enthusiasm in the early years with a
    bunch of simple game consoles (likely as the most of us)
    It started in 1981 with my first gaming console, a used Saba Videoplay Console
    which i got as birthday present, later on an Atari VCS 2600 and then
    a CBS Coleco Vision (which was ahead of the times and had amazing grafixx ;-)


  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • 1981: Some game consoles (see above)
    1985: C64 for coding, gaming and listening to Hubbards and Galways fantastic synth tunes.
    1987: Amiga 500 for gaming and later on composing own music.
    1991: first x86 machine, a Cyrix 33Mhz 486DLC for doing midi stuff together with an Atari ST520.
    1992: next x86 machine (486 DX/2) '...' and some more
    Today: AMD Athlon XP-M 3200+ (see http://www.nethands.de/pys/show.php4?id=2174)


  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Well, from first day I got the C64 I did always adore the fantastic tunes
    of Hubbard, Galway, Huelsbeck and other great musicians. On Amiga with the
    legendary Soundtracker of Karsten Obarski I felt it could be a great thing
    doing some music myself. Then I met Torsten and Karl-Heinz in about 1987 and
    ended up in founding "The Acoustic Revolution".


  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • Karsten Obarski's legendary Soundtracker 1.0 on Amiga,
    later then an Amiga Midi Sequencer (can't remember it's name) with a Korg 01/W,
    then Cubase 1.0 and later Versions on the x86 machines.
    But most i enjoyed the Soundtracker ;-) (Such cool and such easy)


  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • I never reached "the goal". Perhaps, coz I quit composing before
    I could reach it. My most advanced tune, which I did on Oktalyzer in 1989
    got lost by reason of a bad disk and i didn't have a backup :((
    Maybe this song would have been a "goal" if I would have had the chance
    to finish it.


  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • None of my own tracks...


  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • IMO, the music in game/demo is very important, coz it produces the atmosphere.
    Imagine, how strange a demo/game without music would be :-/
    Luckily with todays technology it's an ease to realize all musical
    ideas in a game.


  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • No, I gave up composing. I still have a Roland XP-10 here, but it is
    unfortunately covered with dust all the time.


  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Cool. That's the future. Don't forget to mention MP3, a great standard
    which made it possible to get the music through the internet to many
    more freaks than in our active time. The new programs and formats also make
    it much easier to create synth music.


  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • At a glance, Arkanoid, Yie Ar Kung Fu, Green Beret, One man and his droid,
    Wizball, Rambo II, Last Ninja, Hawkeye, Comic Bakery....
    But there were such a lot of really great tunes on Amiga/C64.
    I could tell you an endless list. I really loved most of the tunes from the
    Grandmasters of synth music "Rob Hubbard" and "Martin Galway". Especially
    Martin with the marvellous Appregio sounds is my all time favourite composer.


  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • In 1993 Karl-Heinz produced a slightly remastered recording of some of our
    Original Amiga mod´s and okt´s. There are 2 Audio-CD´s. If you want to get one,

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Nothing special. Bands like Depeche Mode or The Prodigy is cool style.
    Also I like Ambient Lounge or any kind of Black Music.


  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • I enjoyed the time composing for our tuneshows and participating in some
    smaller productions and trailers with my dear friends Torsten and Karl-Heinz.
    Of course it's a great feeling for a young guy to be well known in the scene.
    Most of all it was great being a part of development of Armin Sander's great Oktalyzer,
    which routines was first officially being used in the TAR IV - Spherical Dreams tuneshow.
    And I really would like to thank all the guys still being around and keeping the
    scene alive until today.


  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No. Unfortunately not, but sometimes it tickles in my fingers, and maybe...
    ...we will somedays rejoin for at least one more track ;-)

  • But I really want to greet and thank you guys out there, who kept our sound alive
    and all our kind fans and friends until today.
