  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • It was in the year of 1983, I think, when I was still a little kid. Me
and my brother got our first computer, which was a Commodore C64 (CBM 64).
At the time, I was mostly interested in games, just like most other kids.
But I also did some graphics in a program called "Koala Paint", and in
1987 I also tried making music for the first time, in a program called
SoundMonitor, still on the C64. I thought the program was extremely
complicated to use though, but I sorted it out after a while. I didn't
start making any serious music until a few years later, though. That's
when I got my amiga. And then I got myself a PC a few years ago.
That must have been in 1995 or so.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Commodore C64: Games, graphics, games and a little tiny bit of music.
Amiga: Music, Graphics, 3D Graphics, Animations and games.
PC: Music, Graphics, 3D Graphics, Animations, games and a little bit of
    coding.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Because I find graphics and coding to be extremely time consuming. With
music, you get "instant" results. With graphics, it takes time before
the picture you're working on starts to shape up and actually look good.
With coding, this phenomenon is even bigger. Also, I think music is a lot
more fun to play around with. But I did make a lot of graphics during
my C64 days and on the Amiga, and I still do today, so it's not like I
only do music either. But I'll happily admit that I think music is more
    fun, though.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • Soundmonitor (C64)
    Rockmonitor (C64)
    Futurecomposer (Amiga)
    Sound/Noise/ProTracker (Amiga)
    FastTracker II (PC)

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • With "Funkalong" I guess. Atleast that is the one I received the greatest
amount of positive comments on, I think, even though it's an old tune now.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For What reason?

  • Umm, there is one, actually. Only problem is, I can't quite remember what
it was called. Maybe just as well, though, since I obviously don't want to
    remember it anyway. =)

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • I think music is extremely important. Music will enhance the tension, if
used properly. Just compare this with actionmovies. Would an actionmovie
be any fun without music during actionscenes? The reason it's there is
that it just makes things far more exciting. Don't really know how to
explain this properly, but I guess most people can see my point anyway.
And if you play a racingsimulator without music, then try putting on
some fast-paced music while playing. If you're anything like me, you'll
find that the game becomes far more tense, and more exciting to play.
This also goes for demos. A demo without music would have a serious
problem entertaining people. I've seen a couple of demos like that
myself, and they were kinda boring, even though the visuals were quite
good and spectacular in some cases. A demo like that would never get
    my vote, though.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • Yes, I am still composing. I'm not composing for professional purposes,
though, so I guess I should say I do it for leisure purposes. I haven't
released much music lately, though. But this will change soon. Just you
    wait and see.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • I'm not sure about this question... Are you talking about sound and
music formats, or what? Well, if that's the case, then I thing that mpeg,
    or MP3, is a great format. =)

If you're talking about what I think of todays music in the scene, then
I think that it is quite good. Even though I must point out that some
people tend to rip off parts of music from CD's and such, then base their
music on that sample, and in the end they take credit for the whole
thing themselves. This I don't like at all. Atleast people should avoid
this in musiccompetitions and such. Competitions should be about comparing
your own work with other peoples work. If people start stealing from
commercial artists and such and compete using THEIR work, then what is
the point? Luckily, this still only goes for a few people, as far as I know.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Well, once again I don't quite remember the title of the track, but it was
made by Jesper Kyd, and was featured in a demo called 'Star Wars Scroller'
or something. I thought that musictrack was extremely good, alteast at the
time. I think the demo was released by 'the Silents', if I'm not mistaken.
Jesper Kyd has also made other tracks that I thought was very good.
So generally, Jesper Kyd was one of my favourites, I think.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Maybe. Haven't given this much thought, though.

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Fatboy Slim, Bomb the Bass, the Cardigans, Air and many more. I really like
    that Fatboy Slim fellow.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • It gave me an opportunity to make music/graphics and to see what other
people would think of it. It also gave me a feeling of being "fameous",
as poeple from Australia, England and such started sending me letters.
Not because they were fans, but because they were fellow musicians that
had heard of me through the demos my group released with my music/graphics
on and just wanted to be penpals with me. That was very cool.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • I am active, but not VERY active. This will change, however. Haven't
released anything for a year or so now, so it's about time I do something
    about it.

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Yes, I want to say hello to all my friends out there. A big hello to
all previous penpals and such, and also a big hello to all current and
former members of my demogroup (Talent). Also I big hello to all members
    of my family.
