  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • I had a neighbour who had a Commodore 64 which he lend me out to play
around with. I think it was in '84. It's really funny how I got so
exited back then, playing a F14 simulator and when I encountered an
enemy plane it really got my juices flowing. The plane consisted of 2
pixels! ;) I think de c64 was really giving you an impulse to fantasize and
    create your own world.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • I had a c64, Amiga 500, 2000 and a 1200 (All juiced up). I played games on
them most of the time. I had a BBS on the amiga's (to get games en demo's).

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • It sort of runs in the family and when I saw ORC (Black Mail) pixeling great
graphics and other beta friends coding, the choice was made easy.. Also the
sound of the SID chip was really amazing. Though my music was not really good
to put into demo's until I started to write on the Amiga.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • On the c64 I used the (TASM) routine from Maniacs of Noise and from 20cc.

On the amiga I started out with Noisetracker and ended with ProTracker. I also
used an assembly routines in Asm-one.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • I still haven't, though I am amazed that I actually typed in all the stuff..

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • On the c64 I released Metalwars preview (Game). The intro contained an awful
    piece.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • It ties everything together. It is also underestimated and you usually
get a call when the project is almost finished. I really hate that.
Music that is synced with the demo, or game, will have greater impact.
Just look at a movie. You are telling a story to provoke emotions and
    trigger responses.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • Sometimes, but not on the computer. I have a modest setup but you will
find me playing guitar instead of sequencing. I do this about 20
minutes every day, drop it, and do something else (I have a short attention
    span)..

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • There's some really good stuff out there if you dig really deep. But
nowadays I don't get exited anymore when I turn on the radio or
television. A CD from Mr.Bungle (Mike Patton) knocked me of my socks a while ago.
It's been years an artist did that.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • The old c64 tunes a really great. On the amiga I like stuff made by Jogeir
Liljedahl and the tunes that Charles Deenen made for the game 'Unreal'.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Yes, I've been asked to do contribute for the next release of Immortal
produced by Jan Zottmann. It is really an honour to see my name up
there with all those cool composers.

  • 12-What bands are you currently listening to?

  • Mr. Bungle, Fatboy Slim and Daftpunk and some jazz/breakbeat stuff. But I do
    the dishes on Queen ;)

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Really great kicks without using drugs :) and of course friends for life!

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No, I wish.

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • I would like to greet Hein Holt, Richard Groenendijk (ORC), Jave van Eys,
Robert van den Breemen, Jeroen Tel, Robert Tan, Reyn Ouwehand, Jeroen
Dunnewijk, Peter en Tony van Esch, all the people that were in Black Mail
and Vision. Everyone I offended not greeting em here.
