  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • Well, I am not 100% sure of this, but I guess it was when some friends
in my class bought those wonderful Commodore 64s sometime in the 80s.
I remember the funny games (Delta, Krakout, Outrun etc) we use to play
at birthday-parties. I miss those days!

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Ofcourse I started my computercareer with a C64, but it was mainly used for
playing games. I also tried to learn some Basic on it, but couldn´t really
understand what to do with it so I wrote some text-adventures only for fun.
One christmas I got an Amiga 500 and guess if I was happy!!! Gfx and sound
were great. Pretty soon I discovered THE musicprogram for the Amiga - Master
Soundtracker V1.0. It took quite long time for me to learn how to use it
and to get some good sampledisks, but when I finally finished my first
song.. Oh.. what a feeling! After the A500 I had some other Amigas too
    - A2000D, A4000-030 and the A1200, which I sold in 1994 when I was short
of money. Nowadays I have a PC and don´t have any time left for composing..
Not at this moment anyway, since my studies take too much time
    (Engineering Physics).

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • I don´t know really.. Music has always been very important for me and I
guess that´s the main reason. Nowadays I can also do some coding and I
think coding is great, but maybe there was simply no time for doing both at
the same time. I wouldn´t call myself a gfx-artist, but I have worked with
a couple of raytracing-programs, which I enjoyed very much.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • In particular Protracker. But as I have mentioned before, I´ve also tried
all other different versions (Soundtracker, Noisetracker...). I like songs
made in Future Composer, but haven´t managed to compose any myself.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • With noone! I am not 100% satisfied with any module I´ve composed. Ofcourse
I like the modules when they are new, but I get tired of them very quickly.
I always want to make better and better stuff with new techniques and samples.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For What reason?

  • Well.. Most of my modules are really just experimental. There are some parts
of my modules that I like VERY much.. and ofcourse there are parts that I
don´t like. But I guess I have to say that there are some modules I can´t
listen to, because they were composed for old girlfriends.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • The music is the most important part in a game/demo! Hehe.. Isn´t this a
stupid question?? ;o) If you ask a coder, I guess he/she would say that
    the code is most important.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • Not much really! Or how shall I put it.. I´ve tried the musicsoftware
Rebirth for the PC and I composed some experimental songs with it. But a
    complete song??? No..

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Mpeg is a great format which I use everyday (couldn´t live without it!).
These days it´s impossible to share modules/songs in xm/wav/mod-formats with
other musicians because of the huge filesizes. Compression is THE key!

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Audiomonster - Florence
SMT - A Race against time
Bit Arts - (Most of his modules)

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Heheh.. NO WAY! There is only one possibility and that would be if I was to
compose some NEW songs to publish on a CD. I am SO tired of my old modules..

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Westbam, Darude, Eminem, Scooter.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Many many friends and and a great time! I really miss those days of swapping
disks with people around in Europe. And ofcourse all parties where you could
finally meet all your friends in the scene.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No.. I don´t think there is an existing scene right now.. There is simply no
feeling anymore. The really good musicians, coders, gfx-artist etc are
    professional artists nowadays.

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • I would like to greet some old friends:

    Cabbe/(ex-Silents)
    Misty/Shining
    Mr Mygg
    SMT/Artwork
    TIP & Mantronix
    Calvin/(ex-Voice)
    The Big Byte
    All members of Infect!!
    + all I have forgotten

Last but no least I would like to thank you (Crown/Cryptoburners) for the
    interview..

    Take care you all!

    Hobbes/Infect has left the building..
