  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • I got an Commodore 64 as a Christmas present back in 1985.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Before C64 I had Salora's gamesconsole. With C64 I played games and tried
    to learn coding in basic.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • As I got my first Amiga (A500), I had played the guitar for a while and
I have always been interested in music. Naturally I wanted to compose music
    for Zenon's first intro;)

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • I have used different trackers like Noisetracker, Startracker etc. but most
of my tunes(mods) are composed using Protracker 2.3x.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • I don't like the music I compose. Maybe, because I have to listen to
those tunes so much. None of my modules are finnished as I stop composing
    them when I'm bored enough.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For What reason?

  • Every tune I have ever composed. They're so bad... and boring.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Music has a GREAT value in those productions. Demo/game without a music
is like a spectacle without actors.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I'm still composing "modules" (xm's and dbm's) for leisure purposes. I
would not mind getting money from my tunes but I think that's not the idea
    behind trackering or scene living.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Those "new" formats have their good and bad things. I have made some mp3's
out of my dbm-tunes because in mp3-format they take less space (I use huge
  • 16-bit sounds). I haven't spread those mp3's. I also do some midi-stuff
  • (XG-rules) but I don't spread my midi-tunes either. Modules are great
because they sound almost the same in every machine and usually the size of
the modules are many times less than mp3's.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Scene tunes: 11 notes on sand by Heatbeat (and many other modules by him)
Other favorite composers are Dizzy, Groo, Moby, Virgill,
    Scorpik, Slice etc.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Heh... You must be joking. Would anyone buy a cd which would include only
my tunes? Nope... Maybe I will do it if I get a lot of money. Then I could
brainwash people to start listening to my music by -giving- away those
    cd's. ;)

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Phew, again a hard one. Here's a little list:

Nirvana, The Prodigy, Goldie, Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk etc.
I like a lot of different kind of music. If I'm listening to the radio
I usually like 9 tunes out of 10. I always try to find something good from
    songs.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Hmmm... A lot of things. In the past, when swapping was popular (yes, there
has been a world without the internet;)) it gave a change to know people
around the world. It gave me friendship and a special feeling that I
    belonged somewhere.
Scene was ( and still is in some cases) something you can't put into
words... It's just SCENE- you have to feel it.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Yep, more and less. I'm a member in a group called Zenon and we are still
kicking. We are planning to release something this year (1999), so watch
out. OfCourse studying and other activities take more time than in the past
but I still download all the demos and watch them. Only thing that has
changed since the "good-old-days" is that I don't swap with anyone. I
stopped swapping 1995 as I got into the army. I think that quitting
swapping made me feel more like "outsider".

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Eeeehhh, why did you do this interview??? This was the first time someone
wanted to ask something about me.=/ Greetings to everyone who know me. Keep
The Amiga alive. Make software. Make demos. Make music. Make our loved one
known... Bye! ouh... Visit: http://www.saunalahti.fi/zenon ;)
