  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • It was probably around 1980 or so when my dad brought home an ABC80 from the
school where he used to work. I started out by typing in simple basic programs
found in the late 70's computer mags that he was subscribing to. A couple of years
later, I got a C64 for christmas, and so I started doing graphics and music.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • ABC80/800, C64, Amiga, Loads of PC's + All game consoles released in sweden
(NOT at the same time!) Mainly i've been doing art and music with the c64,
amiga and the PC's. The video games was for playing! :)

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Well, I didn't end up doing music rather than gfx, it's just that the litte
'fame' I got was through the music. Actually I started out with gfx on the C64,
but when I found out that I could do chipmusic and later better music on the
amiga, I was stuck. I was full time producing until late 90's, but has in the
last few years mainly focused on graphic design. I tend to go back to music
production now and then but haven't decided if i'm gonna do something in the
    scene again. Offers taken! :)

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • Soundtracker, fasttracker II, Cubase, Acid, Reason. Today I only use reason
since it's quick, it's good enough and I can do almost anything with it.
The most important thing is that it prevents me from using stupid hardware
    devices! :)

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • What goal? I don't ever think I have reached any goal, but one of the best
releases i've done so far must have been the soundtrack to the game 'Dark Signs'
    that I produced with Deelite.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • Not really, BUT I co-produced a track that was a bit too 'boy-bandish' that
ended up hitting the charts, sold gold and was like the track of the summer
a couple of years back. I got peanuts for the track, and today it's best
    forgotten.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • It's 50% of the production. With the music and the sound effects, you can
control and strengthen any mood you want to set. For instance, take any doom,
quake or unreal tournament game and put a Backstreet Boys track in the
background and the atmosphere of the game would be ruined. A couple of years
back, the game industry didn't think too much about the importance of good
sound design for their games, but today, they're starting to get the hang of it.
What would the Metal Gear or Final Fantasy series be without the brilliant
sound design that they have. There's always need for good sound designers.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • Well, sometimes. It used to be full time production until I quit my job as a
sound designer at DICE. Nowadays I teach movie and film sound production from
time to time at the university. Producing music is something I still consider
going back to. I don't have the time I used to have since I have a family and
stuff these days, but I still miss it.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • It's not as special as it used to be. Back in the late 80's - early 90's it
was more of a special feeling when you recieved a .mod or something. You
needed a specific player or a tracking program to play the tune, and the track
had a certain value to it. Today, it's like EVERY single person out there has
his/hers own label, does dance music and believes that they will be rich and
famous. Today I think there's too much music available which makes it harder
to find the really good pieces of music. Mpeg, wav etc as formats I don't mind
but it's not like when I started.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Everything with nuke, jch and ofcourse the best of them all, Deelite.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Not really since it wouldn't do any good. I haven't got a single track left
from the old times due to HD crashes, and im not sure that anyone would buy
my old tracks on a cd since I wasn't that well known.

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Clutch, Jamiroquai, xzibit.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • It gave me everything. It made me who I am today. Without the scene, I would
be a carpenter or something that hasn't anything to do with computers. The
scene made it possible for me to earn my living doing something I like. It
also gave me some of the best friends there is.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Not really since I got fed up with the newer scene. The scene went from friends
doing fun things, to a stupid race for prestige. I didn't mind the prestige in
winning a compo or something, but when new people entered the scene, it became
something I don't like. Some guys believe they're rockstars and I don't like
that! You have to be humble and nice to people, otherwise it will get back to
    you!

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • I miss the scene as it was when I started out, and if someone would like to do
some 'old veteran' productions, please get in touch with me.
