Darth "Snake" Nefelim
« on: October 23, 2012, 16:20:13 »
The latest updates for Snake/Darth Nefelim.

I've had these a number of years, but over at MA he uses Darth Nefelim rather than Snake in his profile, and doesn't really mention his alias at all there...

Also, as quoted from his profile over at MA....

Quote
Please, note the following: I don't want people to think I'm a ripper or a thief. The tunes marked "composed by George V. Fisichev" were composed in our co-operation. George have composed the theme and some musical elements of the tune and I've just tracked'em and arranged the tune. Some tunes was completely made by George. Used under his exclusive permission.

Just thought you may be interested, I think about 7 of his tunes is a co-op with George Fisichev.

All right, I've put back his name as "main handle".
He's a completely new author to me, so I'm not used to his common nick :)

Regarding the co-compositions, I took great care reading all the NFO that came with each and every song. Each time George Fisichev is mentioned, it is as composer, and each time, Darth Nefelim is the "tracker".
So, unless the above is wrong, and Mr. Fisichev did indeed open a tracker, then , by all means, I'll complete the credits. Otherwise, it'll stay as it is. I mean, we just can't store "original authors/composers", or I'll end up adding Mozart and Chopin somewhere down the line :). What is done, in this case, is to paste the NFO as comment for the musics, which I did. Although, it's not available to public just yet :(.

Anyway, thanks for you great feedback !

Hello, and welcome

Well, first of all, we (read AMP) store 25 FastTracker 2 musics from you. Is there more out there ?
Also, we debated regarding the "main" nick to use when referring to yourself. Is "Darth Nefelim" all right ?
Finally, I assumed that George Fisichev was a professional composer (i.e. not a scener). Am I right in my assumption ?

I guess the list of questions could go on, but that will do for a start.

Maybe it's the right opportunity to thank you for the nice musics you've provided us (the average scene music listener) :)

Cheers
Sylvain

"One Ordinal Day" & "One Ordinal Day-fixed" and "Sealer" & "Sealer v1.00b" are same, the difference is just in some fixed bugs. Yes, there're more tracks - I'll contribute'em a bit later.

Darth Nefelim is a virtual person, where "Darth" correspondes as Name and "Nefelim" as Last name. So the nick is "Snake", but this all is nothing but a handle - "Darth 'Snake' Nefelim". "Darth Nefelim" is correct.

Nope. :) He was not, because Darth's real name is George Fisichev. ;) Or Georgiy Fisichev (in russian). That's a long story of virtual persons and I don't think it is interesting here. :) I'm not a professional music composer - average above amateur.

Handle: Darth Nefelim
Real Name: Georgiy (George) Fisichev
Ex. Handles: Darth 'Snake' Nefelim, Dr. Nefelim
Was a member of: The Mod Debauch Crew ("n/a" is correct, because I was alone in this group. Except Darth. ;D)

Welcome to AMP

That makes more sense now.  Some of your modules looked like they were credited to 2 people, but now as you are both the same person it all becomes much clearer.  And I look forward to any new modules that you decide to release in the near future.  :)

Thank you very much for the clarification. I was indeed assuming wrongly :)
I've updated the profile description.

I, also, look forward to additional (tracked) musics from you, should you choose to release some more :)

woaw, most excellent. Thanks a lot for this package, which I have now retrieved.
I'll handle this ASAP (most probably tomorrow).

Obviously, the "cooperations" between you and yourself will be lost (meaning only one author will be referenced). Also, the MP3 won't be added here. I understand the copyright issue (although, I figure this applies as well to the MP3), but we don't store MP3 here.

I've also set as non-downloadable the two near dupes you've listed. We keep them listed as they were spread, and could be sent to us again.

Last, a question, if I may. In several musics, there's this "text" tag at the end of the music (like XM.Sealer v1.00b). It's _not_ part of the official XM format at all. Can you please tell me how this happened ? I mean, I've seen this tag several times already and wondered about "fixing" them or not (i.e. getting rid of the extra data which throws off the size calculation).

Thanks again. I'll let you know when it's all sorted out.

Cheers
Sylvain

Well, I'm not sure, but song information was probably left by MODplug Tracker or XMplay software.

XMPlay is a sole player application as the name suggests and does not write anything to a module.

Can't remember who or what modules but, I recently came across several mods where the tracker left the message at the bottom, almost like a text file, even the author mentioned reading the text.  Thought they were .it or .s3m modules and have never seen it used in any other module that I can remember.

right, so, maybe I could patch modinfo to display it. I've encountered this quite a few times and maybe it's worth it.
the tag itself is 'text' followed by its size (4 bytes integer) and the text.

As for the topic itself (i.e. uploading new material), it's still in the pipe. Although, not likely today, unfortunately. Came up with too much to do in the end :(.

Right click - Track Info - mark Override - Enter info - click Apply. Surely it won't work with a module file, but suites to mpegs and similar files.

p.s. I sent my interview at crown[att]dascene[dot]net. Got it?
