Frenzy - Mr Frenzy ???
« on: November 27, 2012, 13:53:53 »
While going through some mods I found a few inconsistancies with Mr Frenzy/Frenzy mods.

The Impulse tracker ones I take it are from the Finnish Frenzy.
The Protracker mods are from Frenzy/Mr. Frenzy from the Norwegian Frenzy.

Here, I'm more interested in the XM's. I think the xm's by both Frenzy and Mr_Frenzy are the same person, probably swedish(???) but I'm not sure about some of the groups mentioned in the text.  Most aren't credited, some for Frenzy/SoundStorm and one Frenzy/Xact. A few share the same email and icq number, sometimes a slightly different hotmail addy.  I'm not sure that "the escape.xm" is by the finnish Frenzy, but this Swedish Frenzy, as the email is the same for the other xm's.

Can anyone shine some light on this Frenzy/Mr Frenzy or are they just aliases from one of the other frenzy'?

Yes.

Yes.

No. The ones credited to Mr. Frenzy belong to the Norwegian Frenzy/Mr. Frenzy. Then there are those credited to Frenzy/SoundStorm. The one credited to Frenzy/Xact actually belongs to Niteblade, the module was released at the Fast Music compo - Absolute '98 Party. I think the text "fReNZy/Xact" actually refers to two group names.

I'm not sure that "the escape.xm" is by the finnish Frenzy, but this Swedish Frenzy, as the email is the same for the other xm's.
The module surely isn't from the Finnish Frenzy. What makes you think the other Frenzy (which is not Mr. Frenzy) is from Sweden? There is no country or region info available in his modules, "hotmail.com" is a hint for USA,  though.

For several reasons to be honest.

1. They are xm's
2. They sound a different style of music than in the it/mod modules
3. Different email addresses used in the mods
4. Greets different people in his mods, another member of Soundstorm, ie. Dr. q-cumber (swedish).
5. Mentions a #trax channel in one (swedish)
6. Style of music is typically what a lot of swedish composers were doing at the time

To me, they just sound like someone else's tracks, of course they could have been written under a different alias by the same person because of the style of music is different from their normal sound, that wouldn't be the first time, or even by the amount of text written in the credits, not apparent in the .it/.mod ones...

I'm from the uk and use hotmail? Have done since internet cafes were the only options to access the internet before widespread household internet access.

With a little bit of digging....

Modarchive Profile

Mr. Frenzy is 16 years old and has been tracking since 1996. He is a member of
 Faux Pas and Amphibic Entertainment.

From hit the road.xm - Nicklas Karvo (mr frenzy)

I wonder if this is http://soundcloud.com/nkai

Can't find much on Faux Pas as it's such a well known saying. Can't find any productions by Faux Pas or Amphibic Entertainment, only mentions founded by someone called Semtex.  Mind you, it doesn't show the real names of anyone called mr frenzy/frenzy here.

Now, that's an inquiry :)
Couldn't get much just yet. Did I miss something or there is something to update, here (AMP) ?

Sorry Boss, we didn't mend to confuse you more than you probably already are. ;D

After digging through all Frenzy, Mr. Frenzy and what-not modules here at AMP, Modland and the remainder of the Internet (heh) I guess all is fine except for The Escape.xm. It belongs to a different Frenzy who appears to have his origins most probably in Sweden as Axxy nicely pointed out in his post above.

No mate, I don't think the xm's are on AMP, I was checking your Mr Frenzy/Frenzy mods against mine. I was trying to establish if the XMs I have are from the known Frenzy's on AMP.

Just uploaded the xm's in question to ftp to see what you think as you can't comment on them unless you can hear them.

Thanks :)
Well, this is indeed unclear ... Don't really know what to do with these.
I'd say:
- frenzy_strange feelings.xm
- frenzy_the pulse of da city.xm
- mrfrenzy_ancient worlds.xm
- mrfrenzy_cross the ocean.xm
- mrfrenzy_funk da nation.xm
- mrfrenzy_phantom of the opera.xm
are all from a same individual (obviously not on AMP)

- frenzy_trust none but yourself.xm
- mrfrenzy_hit the road.xm
are from different musicians.

If you guys get to the bottom of this, please tell me :)

Well, some of those mods you have separate are on his artist page over at MA.  I think they are all by this Swedish Frenzy/Mr Frenzy.  Gets funnier you saying there might be another Frenzy!!  :o

I could very well had downloaded them off TiS back in the day. I had the hit the road.xm by Faux Pas and not by Frenzy and the Niteblade one reassigned after Deus-ex spotted that one.

Well, AMP does store a Swedish Frenzy, however, it's from a decade back. I agree we have no material for this author, however, I guess Crown added him/her from member lists, like here:
http://kestra.exotica.org.uk/demo.php?id=4106
http://kestra.exotica.org.uk/demo.php?id=2446

Although, granted, it could be the Norwegian one each time :). Still that makes it we don't have this XM author, or so it looks like.
