Is there a quick way to either decompress these or load them into a player (PC) that can then save them out without resorting to emulation?

Asle

I know of no player/tracker that handle any stonecracker data (on PC).
As for P61a converter, well, I know of at least one :) ... if samples aren't packed, that is.

Saga

xmp should have support for various The Player formats, including p61a.

Heheh...

I have ripped a few mods in s404 and p61a format.  Some I can drop on XMPlay or Brzplayer and they play ok, some aren't recognised at all.  I can't tell if in fact they are datafiles or mods at the moment.  What I was wondering, was there a tool for the PC to decompress them in order to check what they were?  Also, the players don't allow them to be saved in a playable module format that are recognised.

This is where the files come from!  ;)

Asle

Same reply as before. I know of no tool on PC that will save a P61A and/or aS404 packed mod to a standard mod.
priestessofstorm.p61 is a P61A with packed sample
tribal_trouble.p61 is a S404, containing a P61A

Second one converts OK with Prowiz. First one, well, I'd use The Player on Amiga :)

For both, I'd track the author and ask for the originals :D

Well, as I had a few of both types, I just checked them all against what was on here.  ;)

Most were fortunately, just a long arsed way to check them....

Asle

I'll implement a search by real size shortly (next week-end ?). That could help.
Also, I didn't ask. How did you rip those files (and from where) ?

I paid a visit to Scene.Org to see what/if anything new had been uploaded. Think I may have been in the \pub\music\disks\ folder where a few prods had been added for 2013 since I last checked.  As always, Mrip v3 and PW used depending on PC/Amiga files.

Also, now I have 3tb of disk space, I have also been adding and checking scene CDs for things I may have missed.

As the disks have been sat in a drawer for however many years, I thought why not bung them on my drive and have a nostalgic look through it all....

curious, Deliplayer (PC) plays the mod priestessofstorm.p61 but tribal_trouble.p61 not. BZR player plays tribal_trouble.p61 but priestessofstorm.p61 not.
A new version is out from BZR player.

To quick decrompress i use winuae, opus 5.5 with XFD to decrompress quick and fast packed mods etc. On pc side sorry no idea.

I was thinking about Winuae, but quite honestly, I couldn't be arsed to try to get it all working. I don't think I even have any WB images for it....

I had 20 or 30 mods in both formats and just wanted to go through them as quick as possible.  I had the same issues with XMPlay and BRZ, not got DP (PC) on this particular machine as I never quite got it working on Vista, so haven't bothered this time.  I have the new version of BRZ but not got any of the files anymore as I got the .mod versions of most of them.....

@Asle

What is the latest version of Prowiz?

prowiz.exe   258,462
Prowiz64bit.exe   2,920,945

No idea if these are really old or what.

I use win7 64 bit and Deliplayer (PC) works fine. Use the compatibility mode, windows xp sp3.

Asle

well, for 30 (or any quantity in fact), please, send over. I'll decrunch/convert everything in no time. I've got it all set up over here.

Anyway, about Prowiz, giving me the size is no use. I don't keep old compilations and thus, the "latest" is on my computer :). But, unless you're on to rip Amiga exe, there's nothing new. Some fixes, detection wise, for BZR player (never used this one) is about all.

Maybe I'll give it another try then.

Like I mentioned, I managed to get the modules off AMP and deleted the p61/s404.  In future, I'll keep these files if I come across any, and if the module isn't already available.

sorry to resurrect an old thread.

our amigadepacker should handle S404/SQSH/MMCP/PP20 files...
