A sad news today as we have just been informed that Maf (BenoƮt Charcosset), a talented and very friendly French demoscene composer, has died. He was fighting against cancer but unfortunately lost the battle.

We invite you to listen to his modules: http://amp.dascene.net/detail.php?detail=modules&view=4491 and read the interview he did for AMP: http://amp.dascene.net/detail.php?view=4491&detail=interview

Rest in Peace my friend!

Announcements / We reached 150.000+ modules
June 25, 2019, 19:00:11
Today is a new milestone for the Amiga Music Preservation Website as we now host more than 150.000 musics. It took 19 years and a lot of time and efforts from truly passionate people. :)

On behalf of the team (Asle, Curt Cool, Monty) I want to thank all supporters and contributors for making it possible.

There are still tons of Amiga music to be preserved so please keep providing us with missing modules, information, etc. so that we have 20+ years of work.  :)

Have a lovely day!

A new book about the Amiga Demoscene has hit the crowdfunding shelves. This one is written in French by Christophe Boucourt. It basically is the review of the 75 best Amiga demos from 1994 to 1993. The volume 1 has an estimated 352 pages and the PDF version costs 10 euros versus 35 euros (postage included) for the hard copy.

Here is a snapshot of how the book should look like:

Here is an extract of a Demo related article:

More information about the book can be found here: https://fr.ulule.com/demomaker-amiga/supporters/

AMP fully support this great initiative and we hope that more volumes will see the light in the future.

If you happen to have lost your PW to the Forum, please use the following link to retrieve it: http://amp.dascene.net/forum/index.php?action=reminder

We had an SMTP issue that prevented it to work which has now been corrected.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Announcements / AMP Player app for iOS
April 23, 2013, 16:03:03
Our Finnish friend Aleksi Sitomaniemi has just released an AMP player APP for Apple OS (iPhone, etc.) which you can find here!

Here is a quote from Aleski: "I have created an iPhone application that connects to http://amp.dascene.net for doing composer/module searches. App is capable of downloading modules and playing them back (I'm using un4seen bass engine for playback, so supporting the most common formats, but not all of them). It started as a get-to-know iOS project when I was suddenly out of project in my job at spring, and was on hold for a couple of months while I had more time-demanding paid work to attend, but I'm pretty happy with current version and looking forward to releasing it to app store.

Thanks Aleksi. Btw looking forward to your AMP related get-to-know Android project.  ;)

Here is a quote from the message found on: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=62485

Rules:

The goal is to do the whole composition with samples only from the ST-01 disk, which is available for download from here: ST01.zip
Should be 100% retro Soundtracker style. By that we mean: NO resampling. NO processing allowed. Remember: original Soundtracker had no sample processing facility.
Exception to rune No2: You can use resample function to double the pitch of a sample if necessary. You can also use taper (small fade in/out) at the sample ends to smooth out the (clicky) loop.
You can create a module using any of the classic AMIGA trackers (Noisetracker, Soundtracker, Protracker), as long as it is playable by any standard MOD player and has 4 channels max.
Doesn't matter where you compose it - real Amiga or on emulator (i.e. WinUAE).

The ST-01 samples can be downloaded from the upper mentionned URL!

Btw, no deadline has been set.

PS: How about a new mod, Monty?  :)

General Discussion / Another World: The Making of
February 23, 2011, 10:45:35
I saw a mention of a documentary film about Eric Chahi's revolutionary video game "Another World" on a french forum and I wanted to share that with you.

The YouTube version has English subtitles:

Part1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWBV08FTXFw

Part2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPDN-tE7vQ0

It's interesting to see how humble Eric Chahi is, despite the fact that he created a game that changed the perception that most people had of this industry.
