Requests / Re: API Access to the Modules on AMP

Hi Sylvain!

Thanks for your reply!

Indeed, for AmiModRadio, it doesn't matter if a URL is broken or point to some resource other than a module: it will try to download it, if it can't, just moves on, then it will try to play it and, again, if it can't, just moves on :)

What I would need would just be a URL like "http://amp.dascene.net/totalnumbermods.php" that would return just a number, the max. number of "modules" (even if broken links, other types of documents, etc.) currently available. If doesn't even have to be a "proper" HTML file, just a number :D

What do you think?
Cheers!

Files upload / Unknown mods in upload dir
« Last post by Curtcool on November 12, 2021, 16:23:21 »
First of all, thank you very much for the ongoing support with mods.

In the past 6 months, quite a lot of good stuff have reached the "incoming" directory, and will be added soon.

But we would very much appreciate if you guys could try and tell us, who composed the tunes or at least where you found them (if the composer is really unknown we will try to have them added over at our friends at modland). Because there were a lot of unknown, random tunes in the "incoming" dir this time 'round. So, put them in dir's in the archive or leave a little text if possible. Also, please don't reupload each tune a lot of times.

Especially, as good .mod files is obviously our main priority, I would like to know who uploaded and composed mod.action-ii, mod.easy-living, mod.hitech-i, mod.idea for nothing, mod.imperator magic, mod.in the distance, mod.intro-e, mod.lost files, mod.maximum performance, mod.the journey and mod.waiting. I have a feeling most of these are by the same composer, so though some of you might know something?

I'm surprised that the archive is still around after 20 years. At least you have found some unknown modules and the fun can begin trying to identify them all.  :o

Thanks again Axxy... Glad you recognised a few names there. I guess I could reach out to those names to see if they are still active. Kicking myself for not getting those details years ago.

Wow, only recognise 3 of them..

tcp01-02 by Smirk
tcp01-04 by Nagz
tcp01-15 by Timbral (on Demozoo by Timbral, and different filesize to compo entry)

My xm by Nagz has credits - 1hour tqlcompo

No idea about the rest or if any ex-members are still active.

Quick look - https://www.facebook.com/zalzachip/ no posts since 2018)  :(

Thanks Axxy. I've attempted to attach the zip. Let me know if that doesn't work. Some good old tunes in this one. :)

Can't say I've heard of this particular xm, but can you upload the mods/xm' by attaching (zipped) it here in a reply. No .exe or .com files just the mods?

Hi all - glad to see after many years that interest in module music is still alive and well :D

I'm on the hunt to get in touch with the composer of this old XM:

tcp01-10.xm

I must have downloaded this about 20 years ago as part of the musicdisk done by the Tequila group, titled chipcompo #1! ...Web searches bring up nothing. I found the Tequila group listed here on AMP as well as on a few demoscene websites - but nothing about this specific compilation. I recognise some of the old names, but the XM file in question has no author appended to it, nor are they listed in the txt file. Perhaps being a chip tune compo, not much attention was put into details and the music a bit of a throw-away?

Anyway, I would deeply appreciate any clues as to who the composer of "Palestina" is, as I'd like to get in touch with them regarding a project I'm working on.

If it would help at all I could upload the original files so people could listen?

Greets,
stormformer (AKA mr_mark_dollin / mmd / Foo?)

Hi again,

Anything is possible at this point, I guess. However, I'm still stuck at finding out the basics of these API. See, aside the security concerns (which will have to be addressed at some point), there are all kind of questions regarding output format and the like.

I'm not sure shooting randomly with an ID is the thing to do. Many are not attributed anymore (dupe, mistake, etc.). Granted, it won't break anything, though.

There are also ID pointing of non-downloadable material (broken file, author's request, etc.). The URL listed should already handle that. I'm not sure of the output you get for the moment :)

Anyway, I won't be in a position to do anything any time soon for personal reasons. I'll discuss this with others and we'll see where this goes.

Cheers
Sylvain
