Music database / Re: GAME THEMES Mod Archiv

LHA pretty much the Amiga standard for compression along with Powerpacker/zip. I should imagine Aminet if your using real hardware (amiga) or emulating, pretty sure LHA is on there.

If your using Windows based machine, most stuff like Winzip/Rar automatically handles lha compressed files I think as I haven't had an issue with Lha files for years.

On Exotica, I have to right click on the download and 'Save link as' to download any files, I am on a Windows PC, so nobodies perfect!!  :o

Musician database / Okkie/Method
« on: August 10, 2022, 15:20:40 »
I just downloaded Flarp Flooper' entry for Evoke Remix 22 compo...

Having looked the name up, it seems he has quite a few aliases.  More surprising, he seems to be Okkie & Method.. Any ideas if there are any more Okkie or Method aliases besides this one, as I seem to have a lot more modules than here on AMP from these two or one as the case maybe?

Some not credited, so not sure if they are by the same Okie/Method, but I also have an .it module credited to Method so not sure if there is another Method.

And just to add to Asle' post, there is also a web front-end for Modland at Exotica so it's possible to search the ftp site through a browser.

If your familiar with ftp, Modland better accessed via a ftp client for download purposes. The good thing about Modland, the folders are sorted by format/artist, so protracker modules easy to find if you know who made the tune.

Hi

That's quite an extensive list. If any of those are in mod files, you should be able to find them here (Amp), Modarchive or even Modland if the mods contain the game name in the filename, else you'll need to hunt them down.

You could also try http://www.mirsoft.info/gamemods-archive.php
Change the platform to Amiga in the drop down and look for those particular games.

The other problem you might have is, if the tracks are not in module format, Modland is the better option as it contains many other custom/exotic formats from the Amiga.

I'm not sure if sites like Demozoo or Kestra carry game modules (copyright issues), but Asle will be better to answer that. There are probably other sites that may archive what your looking for though.

Happy hunting!

Looking at it, I wonder if it's by \Slash (Surasshu/Fromage) as mentioned in the sample texts.. Sounds possibly like an ohc entry?

I'm surprised that the archive is still around after 20 years. At least you have found some unknown modules and the fun can begin trying to identify them all.  :o

Wow, only recognise 3 of them..

tcp01-02 by Smirk
tcp01-04 by Nagz
tcp01-15 by Timbral (on Demozoo by Timbral, and different filesize to compo entry)

My xm by Nagz has credits - 1hour tqlcompo

No idea about the rest or if any ex-members are still active.

Quick look - https://www.facebook.com/zalzachip/ no posts since 2018)  :(

Can't say I've heard of this particular xm, but can you upload the mods/xm' by attaching (zipped) it here in a reply. No .exe or .com files just the mods?

Hi and welcome.

https://amp.dascene.net/upload.php

I'm not sure if uploads are still enabled as there hasn't been much happening here, even during the pandemic, but it might be still working.

General Discussion / Re: No downloads now at all?
« on: April 28, 2021, 13:01:34 »
OK, just to resurrect this post and update on it.

It seems not just Google Chrome continue to have this problem but other browsers using this technology are reporting similar traits. This was never about just this site but many sites, outside what some people I presume call "mainstream"...

After trying various work-arounds from many sources, which never worked by the way, as they always do!

Anyway, I was getting rather p!ss€d as every site that had downloads was beginning to stop downloading by clicking a link. I came across this little snippet, can't remember where (sorry). Entering "chrome://settings/content/insecureContent" into Chrome takes you to an option where I can add various sites so it shows "Not secure" in the address bar of Chrome. This now allows me to download from links (by not blocking) them :)

To me, it's a hidden option because it doesn't seem to show up in Settings anywhere. I still don't see why Chrome needed an option like this, with no way to toggle it or off (common-sense approach) or even notification that an option like this was even happening. Just bung it in one of the updates, no one will notice >:(

Also, they offer no advice on this option, don't even mention this as a fix to allow downloads to happen as normal, even when responding to help questions on their own forums.

Music database / Marlboro Man
« on: April 23, 2021, 16:22:16 »
Which Marlboro Man.mod is the original??

https://amp.dascene.net/downmod.php?index=133305 by Eclipse
Or
https://amp.dascene.net/downmod.php?index=162616 by Dr Dildo

Both productions are on Kestra and Demozoo that have the module, both from 1994, so who actually wrote it or possibly both the same person under different nicknames?
