Support / Feedback / How to Edit .XM Sample names
September 04, 2015, 12:21:58
Hi:

I've been renaming sample names from my MOD files and I'm able to change massively all samples from an ID3 editor in .MOD files, but that is not possible in .XM files.
I need to edit about 100 files and it is a very long process. Is there any way to edit sample names in all files in a row?

Thanks

PD: forgive my poor english

But what does the number mean? I guess it isn`t just 1, 2, 3, ...120, 121, 122, ...? Else you made 340 modules in 2001.

:D

Since the date I began to create MODs, I always named the files with a sequential number. So the first MOD I made, is noOne_1, and the last I did is noOne_723. Of course, not all modules were finished, so the numbers means the sequential MOD that the file is, but not the sequential number of finished MODs.
I started 723 MODS, but I finished about 150. I added the year recently to give a little more info about the file.

got the archive. thanks :)
OK, so, now, it seems there's no title anywhere. Are you sure you want your musics being listed with the names you submitted ?
XM.noOne_334_2001
XM.noOne_340_2001
etc.

Tell me it's OK for you and I'll upload all musics.

Hi!

Yes. I never named the songs I made along the years so it is fine. Only my nick and the number of the song. It will be a hard job to name 50 songs :D

Thanks!

Hi NoOne,

You're indeed welcome here. I'll add a new author shortly :)
About the 4 game musics, can they be stored on AMP (copyright stuff, etc.) ? If so, they lack titles.
Regarding s3m.com, maybe it is possible to retrieve some material by using archive.org. I did and found several versions of this website. There's also _some_ material. What was you nickname on that website ?

Anyway, thanks for dropping by. If you put your hand on your old compositions, send over :)

Cheers
Sylvain

I'm an spanish tracker/MOD fan that have been composing MOD and XM songs on a PC (fastracker and ft2) from 1996 to 2006.

My works were uploaded a few years ago to a web called s3m.com that is now offline so You will not find my work in the net except for a few songs used in a Open source Linux Game called "Duel iii" (https://www.allegro.cc/forums/thread/568306). My style was always rock and metal. I was always searching the way to make the modules sound like a metal band :)

But I have about 150 songs composed that were never released in any form.

Now I'm focused composing with an iPad and Garageband (Fearworks is the name of my project) but I expect  to publish all my previous works. And that is why I'm now in AMP.

Here I found all the compositions that made me love the MODs scene: Knulla Kuk by Moby, Daley... and many others that I'm rediscovering in AMP.

So here I'am. thanks for this wonderfull site.

See you
