Yay, 4champ is back in the public listing, get yours at https://apps.apple.com/app/4champ/id578311010. The TestFlight program is also still open, and when I get to implement new features, the beta group will sneak previews first. Any comments welcome, and don't forget to rate the app if you like it ;)

It took over 2 years to get there, but I'm finally approaching re-entry to AppStore with 4champ. Many thanks to Curt Cool, Asle and Crown for the support and nice feedback, it wouldn't have happened without you.

The app is now completely rewritten in Swift (and for some parts SwiftUI) and as of Easter 2020 it's now in Testflight public beta. If you have a device running iOS 13, you can grab the build from https://testflight.apple.com/join/j1yhaJQ1 .

The app source code will stay in github, so it's also possible to do DIY builds on it.

Happy 2020, nice ternary digits! Awesome job with AMP, the end-of-the year boost in the uploads was great, a lot of mint tracks in the over 1k new modules in the db during December 2019.

https://github.com/sitomani/4champ just got updated with support for offline listening (you can mark modules favorite for keeping them in local collection. Now the last big feature missing from the open source version is the playlists support.

More detailed info in my development diary https://sitomani.github.io/4champ/.

On the news: Search feature implementation now merged to master branch. https://sitomani.github.io/4champ/ This version allows search by module name, composer, group or in-module texts (instrument/sample names)

@Crown, thanks! Revision is on my ToDo list, definitely. Would be cool to meet you guys in person there, or in Datastorm... Or maybe you could consider Finland & Assembly? ;)

... and an update from the relatively hot Finland: 4champ github repo just got an update that puts the radio feature back on the tracks. Now you can build the app yourself with the instructions given on the readme file and start playing some Amiga module goodness again on your iPhone/iPad. https://github.com/sitomani/4champ

I'm going to be at Datastorm 2018 Gothenburg in early August this year, so if you're there, It'd be great to meet.

Audio Trackers & Players / 4champ goes github
April 18, 2018, 10:13:04
Just FYI: 4champ iOS mod player has been removed from AppStore late in 2017 because I could not get into terms with Apple Review about the use of third party material (i.e. the mods from amp.dascene.net) in the app. It killed my inspiration to work on the project for a good while, but now I've started a github repository to build a brand new open source version of 4champ. There's not that much to share yet, but I've set up a development journal at https://sitomani.github.io/4champ/ where you can follow the progress. I'll also be posting about the development on my Twitter account @4champ_app so stay tuned!

Phew it took much longer than I expected, but now it is out: 4champ 2.0 released today. This update consists of the following features:

- The background play feature is now free (no in-app purchase needed)
- Now playing -footer view on all screens when a module is playing
- Module info view that shows the sample information from currently playing module. Access by tapping the now playing footer.
- Preview mode on search: When preview mode is on, downloaded modules are not stored permanently until saved/favorited.
- Bug fixes + minor improvements.

Check it out in App Store https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/4champ/id578311010

@charlie90 did you miss the free full version by a day? :D Don't worry I'm releasing Spanish localisation soon and will put it free again for a week. I'm also planning to change the in-app-purchase into more like a sponsoring function; From 2.0 version the free app will have all features, but it'll have a consumable in-app-purchase for people who want to support development.

It's been taking more time than I anticipated to get the localisation going, but now I've got German, Norwegian, Danish, Russian and Finnish covered. If anyone here interested to participate in 4champ localisation beta, drop me a PM in twitter (@4champ_app) or in mail sitomani at iki.fi. The beta has shuffle mode for playlists + the aforementioned localisations included.

Plan is to have the update in App Store at the time of Assembly 2015.

Thanks mld, will have to look at your test mods. 4champ playback is currently done with LibModPlug, and I'm painfully aware of its limitations. Incorporating other player engines is in the plan for future updates. So much to do, so little time.

I'll be participating in Assembly 2015 in Helsinki at the beginning of August. If you're also coming, please pay a visit to the oldskool area find the 4champ (I'm going to have some sort of poster/flyers) - it'd be nice to see you guys there.
