Topics - Asle

#21
We were sent the following email today. So, here it is. Note that AMP team has nothing to do with this and any question/request should therefore be addressed to the author.
I, Asle, didn't have a chance to test this on Android, so I have no personal feedback to provide for that. The MS-Windows version is very slow, and that's all I'll say. Not sure this version is the goal, so ...

QuoteHello, guys!

I am the author of ZXTune - chiptunes player (homepage is http://zxtune.bitbucket.org/ ). It's free and seems to be liked by users. Unfortunately, it's not as widely uses as I want - I'm not a PR or SEO guru, just a developer:)
Android version of my app is able to browse Amiga Music Preservation collection online (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.zxtune). I've made two oneliners with GooglePlay link and many people was happy to know about ZXTune according to thanksgiving reviews:) But regular oneliner posting looks like a spam, so I prefer to ask you directly- can you add app link to information page on your site?
Android version is just a player, but desktop version has a quite powerful ripping possibilities.

If you have any questions - feel free to ask.

Thank you!

Ripping Amiga music / Up Rough musicdisks
March 01, 2015, 16:42:20
In the same spirit as the Confusion musicdisk discussion, I'm breaking my teeth on the various Up Rough musicdisks.
Several examples are on Up Rough homepage.

First, I can't even the damn things :) . Now, there's apparently an option, when running, to save the music being played. Even so, the musics are stored in sub-directories. However, they are encrypted. It's obviously a key, however, it's kind of a changing key.
Anyway, tried several times and went nowhere.
The one I've been looking after several time is this one : http://www.uprough.net/releases/UP-LP005.LHA

If anyone could help explain what I do wrong, that would be great.

Files upload / uploads (2015-02)
February 21, 2015, 10:53:07
Long time I didn't post about uploads.
Just wanted to renew our usual thanks to all uploaders :)

Also, we received a Chris_Maeland.zip containing a nice ~3Mb XM by Chris Maeland and ... malta.mod
For the record, the original name of this protracker is mod.actual_reality :)

Our friend (and outstanding musician) Wasp is working on a global tutorial of "how to use protracker" on YT.
It's all here.
The first three episodes are already there at the time of writing this news.

Music Request / PC productions to rip
July 16, 2014, 23:30:23
All right guys, there's some PC production I've been storing at home for later ripping (if possible). At the time I stored them, I tried to rip the music but failed for whatever reason, or simply didn't take the time to handle them.
I'm listing some of those here mainly to clear up my storage :) Also, maybe someone had a go at some of those and will save me the trouble .. heh

I'll update when needed depending on feedback. I'll add more also in time.

Support / Feedback / AMP down
April 13, 2014, 12:45:38
AMP went down following massive abuse of the oneliner, yesterday.
Sorry about that.

Ripping Amiga music / Confusion Musicdisk
March 30, 2014, 13:51:53
I need help this time.
The production Music Disk by Confusion.

The NDOS disk contains several Crunchmania Address exe subfiles. If you overlook the DOS Copy issue, affecting the 4th subfile, all others decrunch correctly. However, once decrunched, the file containing musics have some sort of encryption on the pattern data.

I've attached one of these files.

I've checked the memory little, but it doesn't help. The patterns _seem_ to be decrypted somewhere but with another form of encryption. Well, as far as I could tell ...

Last, I'm quite sure it encrypted and not packed as the pattern data size (protracker wise) is as expected according to the patternlist. It's not shorter nor longer.

Anyway, if someone has an idea on how to proceed from here, I'd welcome hints :)

Files upload / uploads (201402)
February 14, 2014, 20:04:30
all,

Among the various uploads we have received, so far, one was called 'Appendix-ContagionModules.zip'. It contained all 5 musics from this demo (Contagion by Appendix - 1995). No uploader mentioned, though.
Just wanted to say thanks because the ripper (VrS!) obviously adapted Prowiz to support this PP21 variant :). Result, however, is that two ziks by Lynx are added to AMP :
APX-Contagion_intro
APX-Contagion_tunnel

The other three musics, by Slaze were already on AMP as original protracker:
MOD.imagination
MOD.malfunction
MOD.rainbow walker (this one, for the secret part)

Just wanted to clear out why those three were not added. It was a brilliant rip, so :)

This little message, here, to thank all those who have uploaded material here, in the past months. I don't generally report much, here. However, know that all uploads are handled.
If you, contributors, would add a text/message in the archive you upload, it would be great :).

Hyperunknown did :) To that end, I must answer : we already have several music material by Zetor here :) Thanks anyway !

Announcements / 2014
January 01, 2014, 13:45:04
And here we are. Yet another year has come and gone. 2013 was nice, but it's now 2014.

The usual "log" of what happened, here, follows:
7200+ musics added
~400 musics were updated
1100+ authors were added and/or updated
100+ groups were added and/or updated
50+ pics were added

News wise, Crown has made some appearances throughout the year and 2014 could see his come back :). Curt Cool is lost somewhere in Australia. Nothing much to report for the others.

That's about it. Remains to wish you all a happy new year 2014, that, in the name of all AMP team.

Announcements / demozoo
December 30, 2013, 23:13:27
At last, demozoo is open to public !
It still has rough edges, but it's already looking great. So, all the best to you, Menace, and your team for this nice looking project :)

I'll try to follow what's happening.

PS: And, of course, linking musics from AMP is more than welcome. Should something be done on our end, please, tell me/us.

New features / sorting by ...
December 20, 2013, 21:42:12
All,

8Bitbubsy asked me to add the possibility to sort by download, within a page. This has been asked already, in fact, but forgotten, hence this topic.
I'll try something over the week-end and report back here. If anyone has any thought about this, the time is now :)

Cheers

Well, here we are : 130.000 tracked musics are now registered on AMP.

This was made possible by the tireless contributors, on and off the headlights. To all, here's a renewed thanks for still feeding the beast :).

More stuff to come, of course, as the todo list doesn't seem to diminish at all ... *geee*.
Special hello(s) to Independent and Axxy for the massive contributions.

The AMP team.
PS: in case of doubt, please send us any material anyway. We'll handle it.

All,

I'm very pleased to announce that Scyphe contacted us and, in doing so, sent a lot of stuff. It's now all available. The complete list is in today's additions.
Some very old stuff in there. There are also comments in most musics, giving some nice information sometimes :).

Huge thanks to Scyphe to the contribution !

New features / search by real size
July 07, 2013, 17:36:24
I've added the "search by real size" feature. It's the last option in the search page.
Note that there's no "strict" search, so to speak, as it's a plain search for the input size. So, setting the 'strict' button is irrelevant, here.
