Hi and welcome,

I don't really know if this is read, indeed. At least, it's still online :)
Short answer : I won't grab from modland to feed AMP. It may sound weird but that's an old policy. Give me real sources (those art packs you're referring to for example), please. Replicating other's work by considering it is correct at face value is the best way to spread mistakes - if demoscene "history" taught us anything.

I'll keep this topic on my TO LOOK FOR list :)

Requests / Re: API Access to the Modules on AMP
January 07, 2022, 12:37:56
Hi Tygre,
All the best to you too !

I've been thinking about your request and figured that the "number of modules" is not useful to you. To shoot randomly within a valid range, you obviously need the highest ID attributed. Otherwise, you will missed tons of material.
Let me ask around about security concerns and come back to you.

Cheers

Dear readers,

And here we are, once again ! It's a new year that starts today.
So to everyone; in the name of the AMP team; I wish you all the best for 2022.

Once again, 2021 was barely different than 2020 - which was strange, in many ways !

As usual, I would thank everyone who has sent us information and/or material to enrich the collection. We saw once again a steady flow of material this past year. Many people, again , reached out ! and that's really appreciated.
Should anyone wishes to upload stuff, please make sure it has clear authorship (add a text file if not) !

News-wise, 2021 was mostly uneventful for AMP. Curt Cool was still the upload beast we know and love, and Monty did some fine-tuning server wise.

Some figures:
new musics : 3.585
updated musics : 230
new author : 365
removed author (merge/fix/etc.) : 15
updated author : 377

Be safe.

Requests / Re: API Access to the Modules on AMP

Hi again,

Anything is possible at this point, I guess. However, I'm still stuck at finding out the basics of these API. See, aside the security concerns (which will have to be addressed at some point), there are all kind of questions regarding output format and the like.

I'm not sure shooting randomly with an ID is the thing to do. Many are not attributed anymore (dupe, mistake, etc.). Granted, it won't break anything, though.

There are also ID pointing of non-downloadable material (broken file, author's request, etc.). The URL listed should already handle that. I'm not sure of the output you get for the moment :)

Anyway, I won't be in a position to do anything any time soon for personal reasons. I'll discuss this with others and we'll see where this goes.

Cheers

Requests / Re: Need to recognize file format

Thank you for sharing the recording.
It sounds .. bad. If this is how it sounds in the keygen, then someone mess up somewhere :)
From the noise I hear, I couldn't recognize anything, I'm afraid. Not that we are expert on Atari ST music here, anyway :)

Hi,

Looks like a Hippel ST (http://ftp.modland.com/pub/modules/Hippel%20ST/Jochen%20Hippel) or Hippel ST COSO (http://ftp.modland.com/pub/modules/Hippel%20ST%20COSO/Jochen%20Hippel/). However, I would say the rip isn't looking too good.
So, I'll vote for an Atari ST music :)
I would need to listen to it to have a chance to recognize the real source (a recording of the music of the keygen itself)

Cheers

Requests / Re: API Access to the Modules on AMP
August 19, 2021, 22:39:54
Hi Tygre,

The URL cited is definitely a valid option that is "allowed and smiled upon". Hopefully you won't call it millions of times per second ... As for credit, you could say it's coming from AMP ? not much more to say, I guess, aside crediting the musician(s) behind any given music, of course :)
Regarding a "best practice", I know nothing about API and how it should behave. Calling an ID with downmod.php means that you know on your side, somehow, the metadata that comes with it. This URL gives nothing more than the file itself corresponding to the ID given. I have no idea how you would know the author(s) on your own nor how you would maintain this information. But then again, maybe you do or you don't need this information :)

Anything could be done on our side. Definitely. But I would need material, or best practices for that kind of thing. I understand it could mean "searching" at some point and I most definitely don't want to search for '*' .. ever :)

So, what do you have in mind, exactly ? I don't know your program so you'll have to take that into account in your reply :)

Cheers

Hi,
Uploads are of course still enabled. Axxy's answer is fine and you can submit anything at the given address.
Note, that I would prefer if you could upload archives that include both you contribution and a small text telling us at least who composed the material :)

Sorry for the delayed answer. Much to do these days.

All the best

Music database / Re: Marlboro Man
April 25, 2021, 14:21:23
OK, considering that there are other music dupes between the two amiga prods, it's safe to say that's the very same guy.
The prods:
First Music Disk (Musicdisk) by Jetset
http://janeway.exotica.org.uk/release.php?id=18380
Magic Sound 1 (Musicdisk) by Vogue
http://janeway.exotica.org.uk/release.php?id=7333
I'll merge the two authors.

Cheers

AMP is not working OK :)
Yes, we are aware of the issue. We went off the air after HTTPD chose to break down :) After a restart yesterday morning and some timely updates on the system, AMP simply broke down. It appears we had a huge mess of mixed PHP versions.
Long story short, we are re-re-rechecking all the sources right now and fix where it is needed.

Sorry for the mess. It should work back as before probably tomorrow, or something.

Hello to you all,

So there it is ! It's 2021 now.
To everyone, and in the name of AMP team, I wish, to all of you, all the best for 2021.

What a strange year this 2020 has been !

Again, I would thank, as usual, everyone who has sent us information and/or material to enrich the collection. Quite a lot of people, again this past year, did send us material ! and that's really appreciated.

News-wise, 2020 had its share of events. We migrated again to a new server where several issues awaited us :P. We went off the air this past year for a couple of weeks. But all in all, we are still around and up there sharing tracked material :)

Be safe.

General Discussion / Re: No downloads now at all?
November 22, 2020, 12:46:50
OK, I looked around and it would be more about HTTP-transfer-in-HTTPS-site matter than what is actually downloaded.
We are looking into it right now. Give us a little time :)
