Newsreel / Jazzcat's debut EP is out

Hello everybody!

I just wanted to let you know that my debut EP (under Melba alias) was released on July by Lemongrass Music. I thought I bump this here in case anyone might have missed it :) Pitchup magazine describes it as a "blend of funk, house, soul and 80's synth-pop" that combines electronics, vocals and real instruments. I think they pretty much hit the nail on the head there.

3 of the tracks are heavily remixed versions of my demoscene works (Human Traffic, Sushi Boys and Sunglasses at Night), while the other 2 songs are new compositions and made for this album.

There are few demosceners among the guests: PSK, Roberts (from Applause) and Dizzy.

Visual part and simple lyrics videos were made by Slayer with a little help from AceMan.

Title says it all. Sometimes we hear a song on radio and catch ourselves shouting: hey, I know this! And that’s because we have heard this particular riff/melody/vocal/whatever many years ago in a module. It’s always fun! So, how about a little guessing game? Someone posts a link to a commercial track (or part of it) that has been used/remixed in a MOD and others try to identify it.

Some time ago I've decided to check all Uncle Tom's modules to recall the tunes I liked and find the ones that I don't know. It turned out to be a great idea and I discovered lots of never-heard-before tracks. What an insanely talented guy he was! I have a question regarding Poseidon2.mod though. It's absent on AMP for some reason, but you can check it at Modland ftp: ftp://ftp.modland.com/pub/modules/Protracker/Uncle%20Tom/poseidon%202.mod              Is this really his song? Doesn't sound like anything he did before and the samples seems to be somewhat newer and more modern.

Hm, both of the files seem to be identical... I always thought the melo(n)-dy one was the original name and had no idea where the "monster pop" title came from. Any ideas?

Some guy at modules.pl is looking for a music from this production: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8Yh8_rfTMQ

Everything we know is that it's named "Squirrelfunk" and was composed by Jason Honingford. We're not even sure whether it's a mod or not (sounds mod'ish with no doubt).

Any help appreciated.

I've just discovered there is a lil' mess concerning two polish musicians named Andy (yep, they happened to have the same nickname).

In 1993 I was a member of Illusion (formerly known as Black Bit) and one of my group mates was a guy named Dr. And who changed his name to Andy. His name is Andrzej Jaromin and he is listed here under his old nick (http://amp.dascene.net/detail.php?view=2155). And there is another Andy (http://amp.dascene.net/detail.php?view=274). This guy has neither nothing to do with Illusion nor with the name Dr. And. And the mod "faire ses adieux" should be ofcourse credited to Andrzej Jaromin.

Hope that makes sense :-)
