Hello troop of fans.
We now have 99 logos online and we'd like to reach 100 anytime soon.
So we encourage anyone skilled enough to paint a logo to submit the entry. We'll be running a competition to decide which one will be chosen as the 100th logo.
Send your creations over to Crown and let the audience decide.
-
Someone sent me this, anonymously.
What do we win ?
Sylvain

Sorry, I forgot to mention that it has to be animated flash. ;)

No flash on AMP, so rule don't apply. I find the above entry quite nice, actually. Catchy message, don't you think ? It gets my vote :)
-
Animated Gif will do then. :)
-
Ouch, Is an unfinished logo counting, I can send Two unfinished!
I just can't finish them, I'm in pain (not literally of course) :-[
deadline for this (friendly) competition?
-
Well I am waiting to have ca 5 logos before people can vote. :)
-
I sent one unfinished on your mail, I can try to give another shot at it but... oh well... we'll see... (;
-
Lacking inspiration or time to finish it?
I'll check right away. :)
-
Guys,
here is the first contribution for the 100th AMP logo. :)
Painted by Anarkhya
cheers
-
woaw, good one ! I guess mine doesn't stand a chance :( err .. I mean the one sent anonymously !
-
ahhhh, it was you. ;)

Lacking inspiration or time to finish it?
In fact, lacking global direction, I kind of lost my compass doing it, playing with perspective was the main goal but I didn't thought of what to do after the perspective was set. I don't know where I can place some lightsources, or what texture I want to paint or ... well there are several possibilities but none really satisfies me, so I'm stuck.
The only thing I still have is some palette ideas...
-
Personally I like the idea of a stone logo which would be a bit like the Mount Rushmore in the US.
Or then some pieces of stone that aggregate little by little to form Amiga Music Preservation or AMP. :)
-
Yeah, that's really a nice start idea! Though not quite easy to do as far as I can imagine.

You mean an animation?
-
I did not think of an animation but that's an option. I thought more of the first letter with small pieces of stones making it and then the end of the logo is made of big stone pieces. :)
-
Well...
Draw the thing, I don't get it! :D
-
It could be an animation but I was more thinking of a static picture with smaller stones forming the A then little by little the stones are bigger
-
I think I get it...
-
Sorry about that but unless I use dpaint I ain't good at painting. :/

You are caught red-handed! Then Dpaint something my friend! I didn't see any logo by Crown here, where are they? Come on, now is your time for drawing what you have in mind...Yes, je te lance un défi ;)
-
ehhee. I did the rebels logo which you can see here: http://kestra.exotica.org.uk/demo.php?id=4625
:)
-
aha... I can't read any word, this one is unsigned? Have you got the original?
-
Sure, on a 3,5 inches disk. :)
-
Personally I like the idea of a stone logo which would be a bit like the Mount Rushmore in the US.
One idea I had was for a South Park-style logo, complete with crudely-drawn portraits of various tracker musicians derived from AMP's photo collection.
I might mess around with vector graphics this evening if I'm bored enough. :)
-
Geez, this is a fab idea. :)
as we almost have 2.500 pics online you should have plenty of choice.
I look forward to seeing it.
cheers
-
Okay, here you go. :)
Pah! No spoiler tag. ::)
From left to right: Jeroen Tel, Rob Hubbard, Uncle Tom, 4-Mat, Spaceman, Lizardking, Heatbeat.
-
Why not? Aliasing hurt my eyes though ;)
I think we won't recognise the guys without their names. Maybe you could add them.
Oh, Heatbeat has some black pixels around his hairs, you probably forgot to remove them...

Whoops. Yes, the black pixels are a border around the head shape left over from when I was trying to get the beard aligned properly. They didn't show up in vector form, but obviously disagreed with the conversion to PNG.
Here's a probably rather dodgily anti-aliased version, hopefully to AMP's background colour. Dunno what to do about names - I think having them in the image itself would make it look rather odd at the least. Is there a facility for annotation text in the logo gallery section?
-
Ahhh thats better, AA is fine. For the names, well, this is my opinion, others might disagree. You'll see if complaints show up.
-
Looks cool.
Personally I would have the names on the tshirts with different kind of fonts. some of them could use fonts from rock bands, american universities, brand logos, etc. :)
-
Whoa, steady on, I'm not a font of fonts, y'know. ;D
The main problem, as far as I can see, would be finding room for the names. What with only being allowed 500 pixels across, and with seven names to fit in that space and still be legible, it might be a bit of a problem. Fitting them onto the shirts would be even worse, as well as having to sacrifice some of the detail for the sake of readability. Take Rob Hubbard, for example - where would I fit the words 'Rob Hubbard' in?
A possible solution would be to draw them in in a pixel font above each head, which might just about do it, but it would alter the design quite radically, as well as introducing problems with showing up against background colour.
-
I've tested the name thing... room is critical but it could fit (I used 04b03 font, so no font from scratch here), and for readability vs design, I think they don't have to be readable at first glance, you could place them half invisible so the curious one leaning on his monitor might read.
something like this:

:)
@Crown: http://artcity.bitfellas.org/index.php?a=artist&id=2778
Now you'll have to provide the other pics you made ;)
-
Wow - you beat me to it. I was just testing out my earlier theory, and came up with this.
(Font from scratch, like I said earlier.)
I think yours probably works better - it's less obtrusive, which is mainly what I was worrying about. I admit I hadn't thought of moving the image up and putting names underneath, which is a better idea - after all, there's all that free space at the top.
-
Glad it helped :)
Yep, names on top IS really obtrusive, that kills the thing.
-
I think you're right.
So... willing to do the rest of the image as well? ;)
-
Hell, no!
This is your job, mate! (;
-
All right, how's this, then?
I'm not sure about the colours - I think it might be a little too invisible against the AMP background, but at least it's not obtrusive.
-
This is ok IMO, readable for the curious.
-
Anarkhya: now I am busted, thanx. ;)
Swirly: I personnally like the black and white fonts but I would put them underneath.
cheers
-
I don't think the black and white font would fit underneath, and I agree with Anarkhya - half invisible works best, so that it doesn't distract from the design, but can still be found if you want to know.
Can that last one be my official entry?
We just need three more people to pop up now! :)
-
Yeps, you're the master. :) Fact is, I don't see the names on my machine. :/
I look forward to receiving other entries.
thx for your participation mate.

I do see them... (https://amp.dascene.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg227.imageshack.us%2Fimg227%2F9831%2Fcape.png&hash=37170a1750cddc6c4320d5b6e6e6da8e) (http://img227.imageshack.us/i/cape.png/)
-
Yeps, me too here. :)
-
Btw Swirly, if you find the time to paint a logo for AMP's 10 years anniversary with the faces of Monty, Asle, Curtie & Myself that would be fab. :)
-
a logo with the faces of Monty, Asle, Curtie & Myself
Which faces? The photos from 1995 you have posted in the "contact us" section, come on...give us real photos of the elders ;)
-
eehhe. we grow smart but we don't grow old. :)

Well, I still have the South Park templates, so if you don't mind being given an equally crap treatment... ;)
Otherwise, I could probably do a more professional-looking cartoon (now that I have a scanner). I don't have any expensive software (or a computer which could run it), so don't expect anything too sophisticated. :)

From a gimp (http://www.gimp.org) user: That is not an excuse... ;)

Well anything will do, I leave you free hand. :)
