General Discussion / Re: No downloads now at all?
« on: November 22, 2020, 12:46:50 »
OK, I looked around and it would be more about HTTP-transfer-in-HTTPS-site matter than what is actually downloaded.
We are looking into it right now. Give us a little time :)

And what about websites like Demozoo ? For example https://demozoo.org/music/22807/
Or even scene.org with the truckload of .zip files ?!?

Still, I'm not set for this one. Would welcome other's view

No pb here - both public and admin front end.
Wouldn't it be a browser issue ? I'm using FF on Winblows (81.0 apparently)

Music database / Abyss material on Github
« on: August 30, 2020, 11:36:33 »
I  just noticed that Moon/Abyss has opened up a Github entry for all his work that go back to his Amiga coding days.
https://github.com/Moon70/Amiga-sources
This is great news and I'm in the process of replacing all the converted material we have - which is quite a few musics

Sorry, overlooked this report.
I've deleted the 'Mix' one. It's obviously a mistake and there's no source.
100% identical to Fleshbrain's music

Announcements / Server move
« on: August 03, 2020, 18:02:31 »
Hello,

We are back online after a few days off. We have been changing the server's location.
We expect to be off briefly in the coming days (no date yet).

 Thank you for your understanding.

Stay safe

Hello and welcome,

There is no way to download it all, here. Modarchive.org may indeed help you there or ftp.modland.com also since it's an ftp. They both share their content for mass download.

Good luck :)

Ripping Amiga music / Re: Devils Replay
« on: May 29, 2020, 09:28:30 »
You have it right. The header is 100% identical to Protracker, so ... yeah, that's nice :)
There was no indication. or even mention, of this packer or its author within the prods. I tried to widen the search to prods that were released in the same span of time (~1991). To no avail. Although, you're right, TKB is a likely candidate indeed.
So yeah, please, reach out to any Devils member and report back ;)

Ripping Amiga music / Devils Replay
« on: May 28, 2020, 18:17:53 »
All,

I've recently spent some time on an unknown (to me) protracker clone format. I don't know the name nor the author. The material is found only in Devils prods, so .. I've made up this very original name "Devils replay" :)

I started looking at this when handling this No Reality demo by Devils. Rather quickly, I found that it's the very same format as found in Colors demo, also by Devils.
Cybfree, once again, quickly reminded me that this format was already beaten - more precisely, the musics from Colors were already converted. Great !, so, I can write a quite converter myself for the others.

That's exactly what I did. It took me 3 days because I'm still not great at coding, but it's done. So, first, all the cases found are here:
http://janeway.exotica.org.uk/release.php?id=752

The format itself is somewhat unique in that it does things I've not seen elsewhere. Promizer could be a distant cousin of some sort :)

Code: [Select]
standard protracker header until 'M.K.' at 1080
1084          short         size of pattern data [A]
1086 + [A]    short         size of reference table [B] - must be at an even position
1086 + [A]    short         sample data
+ 2 + [B]

pattern data:
192 bytes per pattern
3 bytes per row:
 0 byte : filter
1 short : address to read in reference table

Reference table:
contains rows of output unpacked notes - so up to 16 bytes.
depending of the filter, above, the blocks of word/short are stored
filter : abcd-efgh
output: in 16 bytes
B1 B2 B3 B4 B5 B6 B7 B8 B8 B10 B11 B12 B13 B14 B15 B16
|  |  |  |  |  |  |  |  |  |   |   |   |   |   |   |
 \/    \/    \/    \/    \/     \ /     \ /     \ /
  a     b     c     d     e      f       g       h
if the filter bit is set, the corresponding output is stored in the reference table.

I guess that's it. No sure I was too clear on this one. Please, report back if you want more details.

Again, huge thanks to Cybfree for the help.

Music database / Re: Laurence module
« on: May 19, 2020, 19:01:48 »
the cooperation mod has been sitting in my unknown folder for probably 20 years.... :o
"unknown folder" ? can you expend on that ?
OK, it's off topic, here, but it's interesting. You would share your "unknown folder" ?
On AMP side, we are not too much on the "unknown author" side. We have our own Unknown Composers that doesn't contain too much things but it's all more or less sourced (we know where those come from).
On Kestra side, the no author list is big but not easy to trace. We have correctly set a few of them. I'll try to add a few more because 61 is definitely not the lot :)

Cheers

Hello,

 Thanks Curt Cool :)
 OK, here's my take.
Thanks to Curt Cool, we know that MOD.jungle comes off the musicdisk by Vanish at the end of 1992. MOD.cooperation comes from an Abandon cracktro in Q1 of 1992. And ... both are memrips on AMP/modland.

Anyway, The differences between the two are :
1. useless set speed added in MOD.jungle (F04) - doesn't affect anything
2. The 7th sample has its data after loop end removed in MOD.jungle

 Two choices, here.
-> Keep both and comment that MOD.jungle is an edited version of MOD.cooperation - and do this "evolution" thing on Kestra.
-> Trash mod.jungle and comment on Kestra.

I missed something ? Oh, and yeah, I'm updating both now on AMP with non-memrips
