So I've been toying with it and have written a little Ruby script for generating AAC audio files using UADE. It's probably needs the edges rounded off a bit, but it's useful enough to share, and I've put the code up on GitHub. Nice features to add might include support for other platforms than OS X using LAME encoding etc., should anyone fancy having a play.

I really should have googled first before asking that; not only is it available, but it's even available through HomeBrew. Perfect!

Thanks for the quick reply! That seems like a cool tool, but it handles the encoding itself, so I can't be more specific about encoding format. This tool you mention (UADE), is it available cross-platform?

I've just started digging through my old collection of MOD files I accumulated a few years ago (I think mostly from BTTR) so that I can convert them into MP3s to listen to on the move etc. I've been using xmp (xmp.sourceforge.net) but it doesn't seem to be able to play the majority of Amiga MOD formats (things like jp. and bp. files). Can anyone recommend any other tool (for Mac OS X, preferably command-line that can just output raw PCM audio) for the job?
