Support / Feedback / search by real name
« on: August 20, 2009, 19:32:22 »
As reported by Deus-Ex :
"A realname search in the AMP online database for Hülsbeck does not give any results."

I'm on it :)
Though, an easy solution, for users, it to replace "strange" chars with "_". It would work.
I'll try to find a SQL solution.

Music Request / Re: more info about 2 mods
« on: August 16, 2009, 13:21:12 »
hi,

I couldn't find those files anywhere either. Still, I strongly believe "Testing Faster" was composed by Echo/LSD. It's not in our archive, but it's very much like his work. Maybe we could ask him :). Crown ?
Now "We are different" is  very difficult one to trace, also, but being a converted file suggest indeed it comes from an Amiga demo, and probably a recent one (i.e. > 1993). It might also be a music entry at a party.
Ah well, I'm afraid that's the best I can do for now.

last night update :
Matt Furniss

I stopped after seeing how bad was AMP for this composer. Bad rip, bad rip and bad rip. Conversions, overwritten titles, MED to MOD, etc.

One question : did he send his originals to us ?

Same mess for Pierre-Eric Loriaux.
Nothing is correct. I'll replace everything right now, because I'm fed up of lame rips and badly converted ziks, using a tracker ...
AND MY OWN RIPS ! Crown, you converted my own RIPS. *geee*. The rest is done.

Can't find the original rips I sent for Cabal :(

Requests / searching for author - game Wobbly Bobbly (PC)
« on: August 14, 2009, 01:11:35 »
I'm looking for the individual who composed the XM in the game Wobbly Bobbly (http://www.reflexive.com/WobblyBobbly.html)
Googling a little shows up http://shigi.wordpress.com/vgmbgm/
But since there's both an OGG (music in the start menu) and an XM (all musics ingame musics), I don't know who really did what, as "lead composer" suggests there's another composer ...

Any help would be welcome, here.

General Discussion / Re: OXM (oggmod)
« on: August 14, 2009, 00:34:16 »
So, far, I've found OXM in the following games :
http://www.reflexive.com/BricksofAtlantis.html
http://www.reflexive.com/BricksofCamelot.html
http://www.reflexive.com/BricksofEgypt.html
http://www.reflexive.com/BricksofEgypt2TearsofthePharaohs.html
http://www.reflexive.com/MahjonggArtifactsChapter2.html

Author are unknown, aside "SandS" for the last.
Any help would be welcome :)

Another popular replay is MO3. Far more games with this format. Original musics are IT or S3M, as far as I found anyway.
Again, all findings are in a todo list waiting to be uploaded on a CD or another ;).

Hehe .. just found that Bricks Of Egypt was composed by Daniel Zandelin ! (not Ola, who is the programmer of the game). Yes, another missing composer in AMP's database :).
And well, all Bricks of * are by Daniel Zandelin ! *gee*. I'll package this and send the lot to Curt Cool :)

Crown, don't feel obliged to reply to every topic. And it's no trick. The point is that you find OXM files, often in games. And they are standard XM with OGG(ified) samples. It was all about converting back to standard samples.

Anyway ...

Hehe, yes, I'm familiar with this topic :).
Ok, it's a lossy conversion, but in some cases, that's the only version available, so, I presently prefer converted XM than nothing. At least, until an original version comes up.
I've sent a couple of converted songs to Curt Cool already in the past, for AMP addition. All are tagged as game music (i.e. containing a () before their title).
