General Discussion / Re: general digimusic
« on: August 08, 2010, 15:39:25 »
I do not know that much about this format, it wasn't too popular back then so I mostly ignored it.

I seem to remember the gdm's I came across were mostly from the demoscene.  How many of them were just converted modules I can't remember, but I had quite a few in gdm format, not all were just converted modules.  Back when I was ripping and collecting stuff, I came across several in gdm format from music disks mainly, normally done for MS-Dos.  I had a few by Tonedeaf from some old music disk or two, hence why I emailed him back then.

Does it just convert normal mods to the gdm format?
(ie. MOD, MTM, S3M, 669, FAR, ULT, STM, MED)

I seem to remember some years ago, I got in contact with Tonedeaf asking where most of his modules were available for download, if available. His reply was along the lines, most of his modules were in gdm format and there was no replayer (general playback player) for them, and no way to convert them back to the protracker original format.

I just checked, but I dont seem to have any gdm format mods anymore, did have quite a few when I came across them. Kept them just in case a converter was ever made, so I've probably deleted them all by now.  :(

Bells, Whistles, and Sound Boards is a
new programming library for adding 100%
digital music and sound effects to your
own games/demos/intro/etc. All routines
are written in optimized 386 ASM. There
are *no* registration fees for freeware
programs. Fully uncrippled release ver.

Not much on the program itelf, but I did find a couple of things on Hornet Archive for a player
/code/audio/players/bwsb120a.zip
/code/audio/players/bwsb120b.zip
/code/audio/players/gdmkit10.zip

Lots of stuff in the zipfiles.  The gdmkit has a mod>gdm converter but not the other way. I have a few gdm mods somewhere, they all look like converted protracker.  Not sure if these are what your looking or if they are anything to do with the gdm format.

Attached is also a gdm file spec or something.  :)

Musician database / Re: DJ Blaze/Fuse

Post them here and we can check. For a reference you can download the file allmods_yyyy-mm-dd.rar (currently allmods_2010-07-30, updated daily) which holds an text file listing of all modules currently publicly available at MODLAND. Open the file in a lister and search for "Blaze\" to find all modules of DJ Blaze (on MODLAND his files are stored by the name Blaze).

As I sent Daniel a few dvd's of stuff not on Modland some years ago, they might actually be the ones I sent him.  but I do keep up-to-date with Modlands full list.  The list is getting a bit large nowadays, it's a pity you couldn't strip out all the non Amiga/PC module formats.

So Blaze is the same person as DJ Blaze? Mainly cos they contain polish text (apart from the STS/Szpont credited s3m).

Other xm's I have, don't contain any polish words in the credits, more written by an english writer, which suggests another Blaze?  On AMP, there is only one other Blaze, but those 2 mods are protracker, not xm.

I also have a mod called "It's raining.xm" credited to Blaze (Hubert Wojtowicz), Intermediate MC5 entry placed 11th.  Any idea who this Blaze is?

I wonder if it was in one of the many modpacks for Unreal?

I have ALF, Warlord Theme and Unreal Crypt down as Michiel van den Bos
Extreme End by Alexander Brandon

I have Erosion.s3m and Erosion (fast mix).s3m both credited to Basehead of Straylight Productions in the mods.  Sure I read somewhere he contributed some music to Unreal.

No idea why I have them credited to them, its been awhile since that game was released.  :-\

These mods credit it as Mozaic of Kryst and SDI/SR (whatever that might be).

SDI = Suspect Development International
SR? - SR = Suspect Records? (yes, the question mark belongs to the group name)

Cheers  ;D

After working through some more of these zipfiles, I've come across 5 mods by Mozaic.  AMP has this down as Marc Krupp (ex Jazz). Which solves my original post I think.  ;)

These mods credit it as Mozaic of Kryst and SDI/SR (whatever that might be).

Seems the Jazz mods are from something called Chipadelic 1, whereas the Mozaic ones are from Chipadelic 2.

Fortunately, I didnt delete all the zipfiles, mainly because i'm still working through them.  The zipfile with these Jazz tunes in is called sure9804.zip.  I'll include the nfo file.  Might be from something called Chipadelic 1 but not sure.

Can't remember off the top of my head. May have been off a scene site, think it was a large zipfile containing various mods by various composers, including a few music paks and musicdisks.

I've recently come across a few chiptunes by Jazz/Real Dreams.

Had a quick search for Jazz and noticed you have 6 listed as that.  The mods I have are by a Marc Krupp from Hemsbunde.

Is anyone aware of this particular Jazz or maybe he goes by another alias?

Perhaps he has the modules credited to Mark Styles and Siren as I do.  I assumed these were already out there as solo released modules. I had no idea they were part of a pack for the game.  I'm not sure where or when I downloaded them.
