  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • I've started sex with computer when I was 8 year old... 5 years on Amstrad,
3 years on PC... and then... The Amiga 600 entered my life! Do imagine: I was
on a PC/DOS 8088@10Mhz, CGA (4 color graphic card) and only a buzzer for
sounds... when I reached the Amiga in 92. For me it was a terrible blast!!
    Hundreds of colors, 28.8 Khz samples!!! ... I was upset-down and couln't
    afford not starting computer Arts.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • 1984-1989 :: AMSTAD CPC 464 for pure BASIC coding
    1989-1992 :: PC/DOS (8088@10Mhz) for Turbo Pascal & little asm... (boring!!!)
1992-1994 :: AMIGA 600 for AMOS code & graphism with Brilliance
    1994-1998 :: AMIGA 1200 still CODE (BRAIN.LEGO label games) + Protracker
1998-20## :: Sold my soul to Satan using Windows® :)

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Sorry, question not applicable. I'm a pure multi-multi-media worker. I've
started coding arcade games in 84 (!) later making design and graphics of my
games (1990), tracking in 1992, and in the last past 6 years I've started 3D,
video, internet, and graphic-design... So I can't say I've choosen music rather
than another kind of multimedia work :). Anyway I'd like to say that music is a
one over kind discipline ; it can bring feelings like nothing else... and lot of
    headaches!

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • My first music program was born from my own work on AMOS... After what I've
played with Music Maker V8 (maybe one of the first 8 tracks A500 software?)

Later Protracker 3.15 (love! love!), Digibooster... before the excellent
    Fasttracker II on DOS/PC (sorry).

Now I still deal with Mod Plug Tracker VST... That's an ideologic reason for
me not to go to stuffs like Cubase: I'll try staying on trackers as long as
    possible!!

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • It's nothing but the hardest question of the month!!
Maybe "MOON AXE" which make me win the #1 rank in a Coding-Party... (not a
big feature: it was a veeery small party!)
Or maybe "THIS NICE DARK SIDE OF YOU" - a very inspired work for me 3 years ago!
Or maybe on of my lattest work "THINGS THAT SEEMS" where for the first time I
decided to use my voice to create a complete song?
Or maybe... Hummm... In fact I simply think I do not have reached my goal yet!!

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • Certainely... 90% of my work!!
At the beginning I hadn't a special knack in music (maybe still??). For me it
was a hard work producing cool musics ; so I still improve my sound again and
again and again... And most part of my past musics are... L.A.M.E! Yeah, I
    confess...

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Unsufficient but unavoidable. Music brings atmosphere and natural feelings.
You can't touch music, you can't see music... It's - very - important for a
lot of projects, but I can't split music and image (that's why I work onto
complete multimedia projects). Furthermore, I'm a dynamic and synchronized
movements addicted in Arts, which is impossible without the rythmn of a music
    in background, so...

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • What a question :) Of course I'm still composing!!! And I'm quite sure not to
stop this before 2057; It's impossible for me not to create music from time to
time. I have the very great chance of making my hobbies my job (previously
programming, and since a couple of years multimedia). So I have concretly no
need for professionnal purpose in my musics, I just want to music staying a
pure time of entertainment and fun! And... professionnal purposes would make
me marketing choices in my musics... I do not want making concessions in my
musics. I'm the Natural Born Limited Man...

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Well .mid files simply sucks (that's my point). While MP3 format is a great
thing! For musicians of course, because it let us release full work with not
limit! I'm quite a little nostalgic of these old time when a 200 Kb .mod file
was the basic mod size. Some people use to say that the MP3 format is a
facility compare to .mod format. But sound quality is much more important for
me. And I love MP3 also because this format fuck up this Music Industry :)

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • The Condom Corruption of TRAVOLTA/SPACEBALLS because this demo (State Of The
Art) is the one which made me bought my first AMIGA!! I would like also to
quote friend's hits "CYBER CHASE" from IX (alias Julien RIET). We (Brain.lego)
were in seek of a great musician for a new game in developpement. We received
a couple a laming mods... and one day, a floppy disk with this music. It was
great, I was jumping everywhere at home screaming "THIS GUY RULES!!!". And I
still love this tune!! (At this time I wasn't good enougth to try make my own
musics, I was leading only in coding).

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • I'm working from time to time on the current audio cd of my newest musics...
so no time for remastering oldies. Always focusing on future.

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • So much! I'm in love with the Industrial and EBM movements like Lassigue
Benthaus, Haujobb (not the amiga one), Front 242, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails,
ohGR, Hanzel Und Gretyl, Oomph!, Mlada Fronta, ... The second part goes to so
known band like Korn, System Of A Down, Marilyn Manson, Static-X, ...

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Different mind, different persons, different philosophy. What this scene gave
to me ? Above all: a lot of good time!!!

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • It's very hard to find time for the scene now... Would like, but I have so much
personnal projects in work and in mind!!
Anyway I've still an up-to-date UAE on my system :)

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • First of all, special GREETING to YOU Crown for your project! And everyone who
    keep the scene alive...

And full greetinz... Long time I haven't done that!!!
Hi to one of the last amiga neurotic coder : crisot/universe.
Redline : insomniak, lestat, grog, jura, weirdo, and all the others!!
of course... the brain.lego team : tatje, pye, sloody[lou], hastur, mr.young,
    ix (and others i've forgotten).
Everyone who helped us creating the planet amiga fanzine : seb59, and others
already mentionned and our beloved enemies from acid'o'zine : brother jay,
brother thx (not so much as we've stollen the other guys to planet. :)
