  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • My first contact with computers was somewhere around mid-1980s with a C-16. My
cousin also had a VIC-20 that I liked to play with.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Don't remember the year, but I got a C-64 at some point in the late 1980s. I
used it mostly for gaming, but also tried some basic programming on it. Around
1993 I got my first PC, though I had been using them for quite some time.
At about the same time I started lurking on Usenet. With the PC, I experimented
more with programming and graphics. Then FastTracker came along...

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • I realized soon that I didn't have the talent to do decent graphics or the
interest to fully learn how to program my PC. :) Ironically, I'm now
employed as a C++ software engineer.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • FastTracker I is the software that really got me going. I cranked out a couple
of dozen mods that fortunately never got released. When FastTracker 2 was
released, I fell in love. In a couple of years I made probably around 40 mods,
but most of them were never finished or released.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • I don't think I had a goal. I made music mostly for the heck of it and just
wanted to learn more more tricks on how to improve my tracking. And the
    learning never ends...

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • I would prefer people don't remember them, as I feel that none of them were
    especially good. :)

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Music is an excellent tool for supporting storytelling, whether we're talking
about a game, a demo or a movie. So much can be done with music to convey
emotion and set the overall mood. Music alone can change how we perceive the
message of a story; consider a slow-motion video clip of race cars revving on
a race track. Now imagine a powerful classical music soundtrack that would go
with it. After that, imagine a pumping heavy/punkish rock tune with the same
clip. How do the two different soundtracks change your interpretation of
    the same visual material?

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I come up with new compositions in my head almost weekly. Unfortunately I
haven't managed to get them sequenced due to a million other things that more
urgently need to be done. I'm hoping to have the time at some point in the
future to do some music, mostly just for my own amusement.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • I haven't really been following the music scene that closely in the past few
    years, but I know there is a lot of talent out there. Don't stop, people;
    keep it up!

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Wow... there's so much good stuff from the 1990s. I'm not going to single
any tunes out, but Dune's music had a huge impact on me. On a personal level,
I felt Hunz's "Volume" pushed tracked music to a completely new place.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Uh, no. :) If there is going to be an audio cd it would be all new material.
Some time in the distant future...

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • The Crystal Method, Underworld, Tori Amos, REM, The Alpha Conspiracy, Sarah
McLachlan, Nine Inch Nails, Fiona Apple, Massive Attack, and a whole bunch of
    other stuff.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • It's amazing to see that people still are pushing this old hardware to the
limits. It's the oldskool spirit that keeps a lot people still feeling
connected to the scene, so massive amounts of respect should go out to the
people who have and still are working on these ancient beasts. :)

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Mostly I contribute by participating in organizing Assembly. Some plans for
future music & demo releases exist, but we'll see what happens with those.

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • My greets list would be too long and I'd forget someone, anyway, so here's
a big fuzzy blanket greeting all people I know and to those who may be reading
this. Extra-big-super-greetz go out to Jackie & Maggie; you know why.
