Handle: Mike Acid (old handles: Enigma, Iceman)

    Group: Dreamsource (on PC)

    Date of birth: 1975

  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • When a friend of mine bought a C64. Later I bought one myself. This
    was probably around 1987.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • 1987 - C64 (Games)
    1989 - Amiga (Games, music)
    1993 - 486 DX (Games, music)
    1996- - Pentium (Music, surfing)

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Well, my friend started playing around with noisetracker in 1989. When I
saw/heard what he did, I started to experiment with it too. At that time I
had no interest learning how to code (I do now). I cant draw that good.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • On Amiga: noisetracker, protracker
On PC : fasttracker 1 and fasttracker 2

In particular it was protracker on Amiga and is FT2 on PC. In the future
it will probably be cubase or similar programs.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • None. I think that some parts in a few songs I have made sound decent
    though...

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For What reason?

  • My first songs. I started from scratch in my youth, so the mods were more
    or less just sounds.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Looking at a demo without sound is like watching a movie without sound

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I still compose, but dont release anymore. Maybe in the future I might
release something new. Probably in MP3 than mod/xm. After I have bought
better equipment I will send demotapes to record companies and see what
    happens.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • MP3, why not. When I've bought some expensive equipment I want to be able to
    use it.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Dont remember songnames, but I listened to:

C64 - Martin Galway, Rob Hubbard ant those I've forgotten.
    Amiga - Mantronix & Tip, J. Liljedahl, 4-mat etc
PC - More or less anything I downloaded..

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Dont think so, but I might take out a few parts in XM's that sounds good and
    remix it in future songs.

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Mostly UK acid/acidtrance, like L. Immersion, C. Liberator, Dave the Drummer
etc. Also techno, ambient and jungle depending on the mood.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Inspiration

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No.

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • All the ppl I've met, present and past, on the net and in real life.
