`n. .rP' `qb ,dP' TLb. ,dMP' all rite, now you get the chance to read TML.dMMP some facts about some of the major amiga ,nmm`XXMPX musicians. read about their history in ,#MP'~~XNXYNXTb. the scene and their plans in future.yes, ,d~' dNNP `YNTb. that's meant to be read while listening to ,~ ,NN' `YNb their modules. read 'em over and over and over.. dNP `Yb. ,NN' `b. · i n t e r v i e w · ___________ ______dP _____________ \ / \ ,N'\____ _____________. _____ \ \_____. ____\ / \___P___/ .\--\__ __/__ |--\____)---\ _____/__ |--\_ \ _/ | | | \ | | \__| | _ \ / | \__| | /\ | | _| | | _l_ | | \ / _l_ | ___| l___/=l___|====l____/===\______|==l______|\ /l___/===\______l____/ \/ Handle: Landslide Purist Group: -- Date of birth: 15/03/83 When I was about 4 or 5 my family had a BBC Micro with lots of ace games like Exile, Elite, Castle Quest, Imogen... BBC Micro, Amiga 500, Amiga 1200, Atari STe. Only did games until I got my Amigas, when I found Octamed 5. I also did some silly animation on Deluxe Paint 4. Musical family with one parent Beatles-obsessed, Piano lessons from age opf 6, musical elder brothers, being rubbish at coding and having a poor conception of mathematics or the required patience. On the Amiga A1200 - various sampling progs, mainly stereo master, then mainly Octamed 5 on the A1200, but could only get a maxium of 4 tracks of simultaneous samples. Then got a basic GM midi module, midi keyboard and used cubase on the STe. More recently I've been using Mod Plug Tracker on my now-useless P200 Mhz PC. I'm about to get a new PC so I'll probably be using some decent real-time recording programs. Hard to say. Each track refers to a different 'goal'; it's often impossible to define what that goal is anyway, that's why I make music. I'm most pleased with a track I did called 'Grendal' on Mod Plug Tracker. Only the ones I thought were good then accidentally erased / the computer crashed and fucked them up totally. That pissed me off endlessly. To instill an all-pervading sense of dread / psychosis / hatred / love in the listener. Atmosphere. It certainly isn't to show off, as is often the case in demos. In fact, that's generally all demos are really for. I'm more interested in the programming ingenuity of demos than the accompanying music anyway. Not much until I can get a new computer and get over a mental block / fear. As a result I've been playing drums in 2 bands.... I love lots of music and am rendered bored-shitless by lots of others. See below. Most mods I've found on the internet are devoid of emotion and/or suck anyway. The only good ones I've found are those that are really, really nasty. Mod Plug Central generally has piss-poor mods, but that's because most people listen to terrible music anyway! Turrican 2 remix - Tammo Hendricks (spelling?) Loads of cool amiga coverdisk mods... Bands: Weezer - Tired of Sex Slint - Good Morning Captain Pixies - Where is my mind? This heat - A new kind of water, cenotaph, paper hats Sonic Youth - chapel hill, cross the breeze, the third eye foundation - semtex LP fugazi - 5 corporations, lots of others... shipping news - the march song my bloody valentine - lose my breath third eye foundation - semtex LP can't remember most of the other 5 million bands i love.... At some point. It means transferring lots of tracks from Amiga to PC which is a pain in arse. mr bungle, sonic youth, helmet, guided by voices, shannon wright, shipping news, dinosaur jr, lots of very noisy drone bands, can, lots of kraut-rock, lots of bristol bands : sj esau, ivory springer, war against sleep, gravenhurst, others..... I was never involved in a scene, I didn't know anyone else who wrote on Amiga and I didn't have internet access then.... However, the software and mods around back then gave me my first lessons in composing music. Maybe soon. :?) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2005 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
