  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • I think I'm interested in computers since 1985 or 1986. It was at school for
some education programs... then for personnal use when I bought (well, my
parents bought) my first machine, an Amstrad CPC 6128.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • I first owned a CPC 6128, then an Amiga 500, an Amiga 1200 and finally a few
    PC's.

In the beginning on CPC, drawing was my favorite activity... until the day I
discovered Soundtracker, which made me buy my Amiga 500 !

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • I think I was simply amazed to hear the possibilities of Soundtracker on Amiga:
using samples, easy composing... it was just great! So I worked hard on it...

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • As I told you, I mainly used Soundtracker, then Protracker on Amiga and
Fasttracker on PC. More recently I had fun with programs like Rebirth, Fruity
    Loops or Acid...

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • Pretty hard to answer... Considering "the scene" and my contribution to a demo
it's the soundtrack of "Real": "Cyberotica" and "Help tha fool" are clean and
complementary, even if I consider they are not my best tunes.

Considering the music itself, I think that a module like "Out of control" is
more representative of my mood and my way of composing.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • Well... there are so many ! :)
But talking about a tune released in a demo, I think that "Space" is the one I
don't like at all: too "obvious", with no real interest and bad samples... it
    happens!

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • In my view, the music is making (or not) the demo smashing and powerful. For
example, "Hardwired" was a successful demo not only for its coding and design
aspects, but also thanks to the ambiance Jesper Kyd tune brought to the demo.
In a game, it takes totally part of the mood you're in when you play it: just
remember the musics from "The Secret of Monkey Island" and you directly go
back in the ambiance of the game.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I don't compose full tunes for about 4 years ... but I'm now playing guitar
for pleasure, but who knows ?! I still have a few ideas for a track or two...

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Well, no matter the form ! I love to listen to midi files from Zelda (yes,
the game) or a good old SID chiptune or an MP3 with full stereo and reverb
    and stuff !

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Nostalgic time :)

I love the great standards from Audiomonster ("Florence" for example) or
Heatbeat ("Scrambled mind") but I think THE module I prefer is "Banana Split"
from Dizzy: technique, sense of groove and melody... juste the kind of tune I
    always dreamt to compose :)

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • It's not planned at all... but it would certainly be funny to re-play some
of my old modules on guitar... unplugged style you see !

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • I'm mainly listen to rock bands: Skunk Anansie, Smashing Pumpkins, Noir Désir,
Eiffel... but I also like various artists like Massive Attack, No Doubt,
    Daft Punk...

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Of course it gave my the taste for music composing... and also many friends
    and mates (Titan, Gengis...)

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • NOT at all. But I enjoy having a looking sometimes on some scene sites...

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • First of all, I send a big kiss to my newborn daughter Morgane, who was born
on June the 13th 2003, and to my beloved wife Sabine.

Hello to all my scene friends around the globe: Titan, Gengis, O'Menor, Oxbab,
Mon, Keio, Chromag, Juergen from BTTR, Stargazer, Audiomonster, Moby, Delorean...
all those I forget now... and you!
