  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • duh, i've started with a zx-81 a long times ago :]
serious stuff began in 1985 with c-64 and first music toolz.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • hehe zx81,c64,c128d, mainly for gfx stuff. Then quite all amigas :
1000,500,2000b,1200,4000 mainly for music & gfx
i started composing with my first a500 i think, a real discovery.
I'm now using big bi-processor pcs with cubase vst & korg keyboards.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Well i used to do as much music & gfx, now i'm working as a 3d animator, a
great fun too, and i do music in my spare time.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • Mainly amiga 2000b/perfect-sound sampler for all my stuff (Chip-tunes and
intros/cracktros/demos tunes) with protracker by karsten obarski.
Sound Monitor too, and octamed for my first 8 tracks midi&sample works, great
    stuff.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • hehe quite no ones. When i listen back to modules i've done in 1986 for example,
my main thought is 'how could i do this in 4 tracks nowadays' it was a very
good learning school, performing yourself all parts from drums to lead guitars.
Anyway i've got about 200 complete amiga tunes and about 1000 never finished
ones, now i target more the 'quality over quantity' notion lol.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • Chip tunes for cracktros... well not 4 the final result, mainly for the hell of
effects i had to embed to make them sound okay. Moreover with a asm coder
behind u keep saying 'do what u want, but no more than 5k packed' i dont like
mods i've done like 'vactro II' which was a too 'classic demo tune' like a
'topgun style' tune. i'm not really a '4-mat/Anarchy'tunes fan even if i
    really respect is great work.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • very important, audio & sfx are the roots of a game-hit.
for example what do u remember of c64 games like 'the last v8','hawkeye',
or 'turrican' except their astonishing musics? I think some game companies
should reload old games on c64 or amiga to check them. Music is not not a
matter of technical power. Technology can't replace a good composer, look
    at rob hubbard on c64.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • For both in fact, but mainly for leisure.I also compose & use my own tunes
when i need some custom tracks for my pro 3D-animations projects. I bought a
korg triton pro-x about one year ago, this keyboard is really worth the bag
of money it costs 8] I'm now using steinberg cubase vst and believe me or not,
    when i'm moving those shitty red/yellow/magenta legos-brick-notes i always
think 'why the fuck no one realised that tracking notes verticaly is really a
    must?'

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • i've started with a c64 so every quality enhancement are good lol.
All 2channels cd quality standards are quite the same for me, but i'm still
asking myself why the midi format is not updated and is still so lame and
vintage ... Maybe i'm still fan of good old all-in-one .mod files :]

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • my all time favorite is probably : bruno's music disk 3 even if its mainly
sampling. and other classic audio killerz : rob hubbard on c64, Chris
    Huelsbeck, J Hippel...

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • i burned some stuff (1 or 2 cds) to keep something concrete from those years.
i only plugged my old amiga into a behringer ultraflex rack to punch the
signal. I also re-used some good themes i wrote younger for my actual work 8]

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • well my musical cd library is quite strange, it goes from classic fusion/jazz
artists like herbie hancock or jaco pastorius stuff like primus or aphex twins.
i like also classic music and even some very popular metal band like creed or
    fuel238.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Fun as nowhere else... realtime competition during big partys, checking other's
amazing work, always pushing the limits to do our best... and beer. a lot of
    beer :)

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No, i only do some gfx from time to time when i can...
But i bet everybody knows my latest logos or design work :]
I'm working professionally now and i dont really want to be affiliated as a
member of any cracking crew, lol. Anyway the old-school scene is dead now, no?

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Sure, wanna greetz my old buds (i'm not in touch with most of them now, so):
all frog buds/pdx & old school pdx members, old swiss friends from alcatraz,
c64 level21 crew, and all the great guys i met on partys like 'the party' or
assembly... To steinberg : kill those lame Lego and add a protrack-style
editor damn. See Ya all Guru Meditation #01510015487-114777141-002.
