C64, played mostly then sold it to buy an Atari ST. I started composing music, paint graphics and code with the Atari and later on continued to do so on the PC. And back to the C64 ;) I've always enjoyed music, ever since I was a kid in the school choir. Although I've done some graphics and work as a software engineer at Fathammer, I like composing more than anything else. On the Atari, I started with a lousy conversion of Amiga's SoundTracker which didn't even have a volume command. After that, I've used ProTracker and Oktalyzer on the Atari for modules, Triplex for synthetic stuff. On the PC, I've used both FastTracker 1 and 2 and ST3. On C64 I use DJB's modified 9-speed version of SYNC, I've previously used DMC 4.0b and 5.0. I really haven't felt like that with any of my songs because there's always something which one could do better and so forth. All of my really old ones. They sound HORRIBLE ;) I think the value of music in demos and games is highly under estimated. For games especially, composers seem to be the worst paid people in the development. Most people tend to think that it doesn't matter what's in the background of a game but it does matter a lot and shouldn't just be ignored. Yes I'm still composing, only for leisure purposes though. I think no bad about them because I mostly compose with synths nowadays myself. Although, I little bit of SID mayhem is necessary every now and then. The one I did with Teque/Armada for last years Assembly, called 'Molequel Man', aswell as the C64 tune I won the oldschool compo with, called 'Molecules'. I also enjoy the SID tune from 2000 Assembly compo aswell, called 'Angel Project'. Planning on making a record with my synth music but not with any of my old stuff remastered. Uh. It's a pretty long list but I'll give some names.. Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson-Williams, Nick Glennie-Smith, Trevor Rabin, Mark Mancina, James Newton Howard, Michael Kamen, Vangelis, Björk, Hallucinogen, Astral Projection, Chris Hülsbeck, Jesper Kyd, Kim M. Jensen.. The C64 community is pretty warm and friendly. One can pretty much go and ask about anything in the #c-64 channel in irc for example. Somewhat active. Still doing some music for scene products if necessary. My greetings list is miles long so I'll just say 'Hi' to all the guys I know. That's about it. Cheers! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2001 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
