Date of birth: 1977-05-06 It all began in the middle 80's when a friend of mine got a VIC-20 and later the very same year got himself a Commodore64. I got my C64 in 1988. And I used it to play games with in mostly in the beginning. But my friend was interested in demos. And I got interested in demos to.. so that's the story ;-) C64 : Learned myself to code basic and later assembler.. got a huge amount of demos etc. (was a swapper).. I joined a demo/swapper group called "Pain".. I really love this machine because of it's nice soundchip... A500 : Played a lot with paint-programs and stuff, got my eyes on NoiseTracker ( which I didn't understand at all first ;-) ) Got myself a old copy of Octamed and made my first module.. Converted to Protracker a while after, and gosh what a great program ;-) I start to code in Amos (easy to use, but not as powerful as I want it to be) Try to code some Assembler (not much like the C64 I knew a little of) ;-( A1200 : I start to learn more about 68k assembler, but does not do anything with it (just fooled around with it). Find another language (Amiga-E). This languge must be sent from GOD ;-) It's really that good IMO.. I got myself a new version of Protracker which I still use today (3.15). This is still the best version (it's 5-6 years old you know) ;-) I release our first Amiga-intro (Winona/Pain) ( Really lame ;-) ). A3000 : I get my hands on THX by Abyss, Real cool tracker tool.... I join the Oops!-crew (dutch based demo group). Start making a series of chip-tunes (MOD) (called chip-it) ;-) Releases my first program (BookCon), a bookmark converter... Start using Internet on the Amiga... (great machine for it). A4000 : This is what I use today.. (and has done so for 1,5 years now). I have done my 2 first THX-tunes on this computer.. And I use it for everything I do.. I can tell you that I do all of them ;-).. not only music... I really like to use my computer for everything. I just love graphics for example (3D mostly). I'm not only a musician, so I can't answer this question in a descent way... My favourite tool is Protracker 3.15, but I also like THX 2.x. It's kinda hard to compare them because they are so different... but PT 3.15 is a real killer ;-) I relly like my first one (made in Octamed), but when I hear it today, it sounds like hell ;-) Yeah... lots of them.. But they are not released to the public what I know of ;-) They lack of inspiration, that makes them suck... Well it's the most important thing (if it's syncronised with the stuff) ;-) The music creates the atmosphere which can lead the production to Utopia (well almost)... ;-) [leisure purpose] Yes I do, but I have done a break now for a while (I lost my inspiration). So now I play around with Tornado3D and code utilities ;-) But I will start composing again, as fast I get the right inspiration and the atmosphere it needs ;-) Well, there are some good piece out there, but none of them can make you in the mood like the good old SID-tunes by Jeroen Tel or Laxity ;-) Hard to say ;-).. they are many.. but they are all SID-songs... Laxity/Zetrex's "Laxity Again" and Jeroen Tel/MON's "Orion" are awsome tunes in my opinium... Ben Daglish and Matt Gray's "Last Ninja 1 & 2" tunes are also great.. No way ;-)... I'm a real all-eater when it comes to music.. except for rave which I hate... But I like bands like (Metallica, Def Leppard, Kraftwerk... and others...) ;-) The C64 scene gave me a strange feeling, which where so wonderful ;-) That must have shaped me to who I am today I think... Yes, where about to release some stuff really soon (Oops!) I can't unveil to much (the other members will strangle me) ;-) But I can say so much that a followup in the Beeps-serie is soon ready (if it's not released when you read this). And a demo is on it's way... (hope I didn't said to much now) ;-) I would like to thank Scrooge (Bullit) / Pain for get myself "hooked" on computers, without him, I wouldn't been tapping this keys today... And a huge thank to Vacu for helping me with 68k assembler... PC sucks, where gonna get even some day you'll see.. Check out our productions : Oops! - http://oops.in.nl OnyxSoft - http://www.alfaskop.net/~onyxsoft That's it... ;-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2001 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
