C64: coding. Amiga500: coding, music. Amiga500+: coding, music. Amiga4000/060: music / internet Pc: music / internet I started as a coder on C64; i've always been attracted by the demoscene, and, on this machine, by the great sid tunes. On amiga, I started playing around with Aegis Sonix, then with Karsten Obarski's SoundTracker. With those, I discovered my [?] musical talent. RockMonitor on C64. Everything that eventually showed up on Amiga (Soundtracker, Noisetracker, StarTrakker, Protracker, FutureComposer, SonicArranger, Med, Octamed, and so on). Anyway, most of the work was done with Protracker (for mods) and Octamed Sound Studio (for Midi). None in particulare. I like them all :) Nah, I like them all..... :) The same a good sountrack is for a movie, then, is very important. For both. Some ex Ibb members eventually joined togheter to build up "The SoundWavers" virtual group. Nowadays i make remixes of classic C64 tunes (see remix.kwed.org) for fun, and other multimedia related works for money :) Today we have great tools for composing; yesterday, only 3 (or 4) voices were avaiable to play with. Maybe, at that times, there was much more creativity involved, and it was used to bypass the hardware limits. Anyway, a bad musician is a bad musician anyway, with a 3 voice sid or with an orchestra. The same way, a good musician is always a good musician, with a sid or a full blown studio. Talking of Amiga, I love nearly everything done by Chris Huelsbeck at the time; his muzaks for games such as Turrican II or Apydia are simply amazing. Other composers I like are Dr.Awesome, Mahoney, and a lot more. Not for my old amiga music. I listen everything, as (i think) every open-minded musician should do. Uh, too much for one interview. Let's say the first things that come to my mind: -Fun. -More fun. -Much more fun. -Friends. Not the *real* scene. I left it in 93, when amiga started to die. I think I was too old for those things. Everyone that contributed to make the old '86-'92 scene so great. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2002 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
