  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • In 1985 I got inspired by a computer session held for youth after school. Me
and my good friend Andras Pasztor got involved with the Commodore 16 /
Plus4 and the Commodore 64. I begged my father to get a C64, and he did...

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Commodore 64 - Games, music (SiD), gfx, coding, homework. Still
    works!
Atari 520 ST - Music (MIDI). My father's computer. Faulty CPU.
Atari 1024ST - Music (MIDI), graphics, games. My father's computer.
    Still works!
Commodore Amiga 500 - Games, music (samples), gfx. Sold to a drummer in
    my father's band.
Commodore Amiga 600 - Music (Samples/MIDI), gfx, coding, games, homework.
Commodore Amiga 1200 - Music (Samples/MIDI), gfx, coding, games, homework.
IBM PC - Music (Samples/MIDI), gfx, coding, games, homework.
    [...]

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Heh, good question.. I don't know if I actually ended up making more music
than code/gfx. You know; some periods of life involve more "this" than "that"
and some don't.. Usually I enjoy creativity & art at all levels, but the stuff
that really makes me feel *goooood* is music (and composing it!).
    Can't come up with a "specific" reason(s)..
I guess it just runs in the family: My father is a musician, I learned about
MIDI at the age of 10 or someting, watching over his shoulder while he was
composing stuff on the Atari. Time went by, I got more and more inspired by
early C64 & Amiga stuff + I got a lot of inspiration (and help!) from Kim
    Bekkevold (Psionic).

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • Oh boy, I don't know if I remember all of them, but OK - I'll give it a shot:

    - Microrythm (C64)
    - MicroVocals (C64)
    - Soundmonitor (C64)
    - Rockmonitor 4 (C64)
    - Steinberg Pro 24 (Atari)
    - Sound Tracker (Amiga)
    - Pro Tracker (Amiga)
    - MED (Amiga)
    - OctaMED (Amiga)
    - ScreamTracker (PC)
    - Musicator (PC)
    - TraxWorx (PC)
    - Fasttracker (PC)

    In particular:
    OctaMed, Protracker and Fasttracker II.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • I have never reached my "goal"... (I don't think I ever will), however I think
I had some kind of a breakthrough (or whatever) when I made "Indiania"
(for the first time on the Amiga).

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • Hehe yeah, many of them.. they simply suck! (lot of old & beginner stuff) -
and sometimes I just get fed up with my own tunes..

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Music is (always?) at least half the fun!
Music breathes life into "dead things" (like code & graphics :-).

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • You bet! Both pro & leisure - However, I'm stuck with studies right now
(very annoying!). - Also.. I kind of have an "Out of instrument error" these
days since all my stuff is in Europe. I recently composed some tunes for TV,
    small projects, multimedia kiosk, etc..

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Music is music.. (hmm, what is this, some sort of a trick question?)
    Let's not start a file-format war here..
Ah well, I know some of you would like to hear:
In my humble opinion; nothing beats a well tracked 4 channel Amiga demo tune
    (preferably late 80ties, early 90ties).

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Dragonsfunk - Moby / Dragons
    Pandemonium - Yaz / DTL
    ChecknoBanckh - Laxity / Kefrens
    Trablash - Nuke / Anarchy
Fantasia - Mutant / Stone Arts
Livin' insanity - Moby / Sanity
2nd Reality - Purple Motion / Future Crew
Ice Frontier - Skaven / Future Crew
Flying Astronauts - Zixaq / Ephidrena
Perfect Circle - ? / The Black Lotus

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Sometime.. maybe in the future..
(Right now I have zero point zero time for such projects :-(

  • 12-What bands are you currently listening to?

  • Led Zeppelin
    U2
    Yes
    A-Ha
    Total Addiction
    Deep Purple
    Prodigy

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • - joy of life
    - pleasure
    - inspiration
    - taste
    - self realization
    - lifestyle
    - quality time

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Don't have the time these days, life was much easier before.. Also I'm
currently "group-less".. would really love to join a couple of creative
minds to produce some quality stuff!

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Yeah, actually I have something to say:

The C64 and the Amiga scene (also the hardware) changed my life and my
interpretation of this world. I would like to thank all the creative people
of the 80ties and 90ties for making our childhood an interesting and
inspiring process. Creativity & knowledge to the people!
..peace on earth & (at least) within this galaxy..

    Greetings to:

Psionic - Formarly known as Mutant / Stone Arts & New Wave
Lepton - Formerly known as Night Walker / Digital Predators
Loaderror - Main coder / Ephidrena
JayKey - Serious Amiga & scener dude. (Taught Loaderror how to code.)
Bosse - Head of security at The Gathering
    Sesse - The wonderkid
    Suicide - PC dude #1
    Sniff - PC dude #2
