But I needed three years to convince my parents, that I was in need of a computer. I finally managed to get an C64 in 1988. At first I mostly gamed around, then learned basic and failed with assembler. In 1991 I sold the C64 and my parent bought me a 386. Since then I had various types of Intel Computers, and later bought a C64 again, which I never use nowadays. I was the worst coder of our group, but still the best musician. And someone had to do the job. But anyway I had lot of fun doing it nevertheless. As my coding skills increased over time I don't do any music anymore. A tried various trackers on PC until I found FastTacker1, which I used until FT2 was released. None. All of them. Even if perhaps the basic idea was ok for a tune, I never had the skills to make them sound good. Watch some demos without sound. Then you'll know the answer for yourself. There are many demos that only rock because of the music. And there are other demos, which would be cool, without this awefull sound... No. I'm mostly concentrating on coding. Back in the SID and MOD ages, people had to concentrate on the basics of a good tune: Melody, Harmonie, Rythm and the Idea. Actually most classic mods have an awefull sound compared to modern demo tunes or commercial music. But nevertheless it was exciting music. Today most composers try to produce the perfect sound, often neglecting the important 4 parts of a good song. That's why I hardly remember any recent demo music, while I still have my 500MB of classical MODs. SID: all of LastNinja1, Hubbards work, PRESS PLAY ON TAPE MOD: space debris, klisje paa klisje Perhaps someday, but not before 2010. Varies greatly. I have a collection of Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, lots of classical music, some Goa/Techno and much more. And of course lots of Hoerspiele: especially ??? and PW (ok, only germans know those...) The demo scene prevented me from becoming normal. I can spend my free time doing something useful and don't have to waste my time in the commercial leasure industry. And of course it provided my with various media/computing skills valuable for money making in the real life. Gladly I haven't stopped. Although the demo scene is entirly different from what it evolved in the 1980's, it is still very intersting and exciting. My current activities are labeled with the group farb-rausch. Nothing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2002 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
