I started messing around with it, typing in endless program listings from magazines and learned to program myself. After the Speccy, i had a Commodore 128. Nothing much there - some gaming, a little programming. Then came the Amiga. I bought an A500, on which I learnt assembler. My first working assembler code was a sine scroller, flickering like hell because I didn't know about vertical sync... :-) My primary use of the Amiga was coding, really. I didn't start making music until 1990, when I first started going on parties. I remember the demo that got me hooked on music - "CeBit-90" by Red Sector, with the module "Cream Of The Earth" by Romeo Knight. That song was awesome and after that I started fiddling with SoundTracker. Of course my first attempt was technically very influenced by "Cream Of The Earth"... I started with SoundTracker and then it was ProTracker all the way. My own two favorites are "A King is Born" and Shivers. I don't think any of them reached my goal though, since I tended to over-amp the samples resulting in low sample quality. Haha, well I made a lousy contribution to some real-time demo compo, where I had to produce a song from scratch in a few hours. The result was apalling... :-) In a demo, it's essential. I can enjoy watching a half-assed demo with great music over and over again... In a game, it's nice with great music, because you get in a frame of mind. No, I'm not doing anything music related. I'd like to take up 'Tracking' again though. I don't have any synthesizers anymore, so I'd have to steal samples ;-) Speaking of synth, I'm a bit interested in the real-time synthesized music found in some 64k demos, like in .the.product/farbrausch for example. Coding a synthesizer would be fun. I'm not too fond of MIDI. MPEG is a good way to distribute music. But my heart is with the module formats. "Cream Of The Earth"/Romeo Knight, "Savannah"/Uncle Tom, and... hmm... The intro music to Yie Ar Kung Fu :-) I have no such plans. Oh nothing in particular. I was heavy into Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Sabbat before, but I really don't listen to much music today. I got me travelling around the nordic countries, the awesome feeling of being at a great pary, and a moderate amount of 'fame'. Releasing something you've been working on at a party is great satisfaction. Nope. First I'd like to greet Archer, my old Aurora buddy with whom I'm still working together, and Horace Wimp, my old Aurora music colleague, and the other ex Aurora members, wherever you are. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2002 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
