I bought my first A500 back in 1985, but previous to that, I had played around with C128, C64, Atari etc. I still have my A500, and it still works. Who could possibly want to sell this piece of art (I've had quite a few PC's since, but they don't seem to get very old, before they're swapped out with a new one. Don't really know. It just came to me naturally. After about 6 months, playing games got boring, and one day I received Soundtracker v. 1.0 from DOC, and my destiny was sealed. Just about all of them. Soundtracker, Startrekker, Octalyser, Protracker. Can't remember all of them. I mainly used Soundtracker, even when the first Protracker came out. But like everyone else, I ended up using only Protracker. None of 'em, and yet.. All of them. The only goal I ever think I had was to just have fun. And we sure did have a lot of fun. Hmmm.. many, perhaps all of them. I was never quite satisfied with any of the modules that were ever released. I always thought that I could have made 'em better. Music is everything. A game/Demo consists of both code, gfx and music. One can not exist without the other in my opinion. Naaahh.. not really. But I often think about dusting of my old A500, and bringing it back to life. Hmmm. Music is music. Some is good, some is bad, and the opinion is individual. and it also depends on the mood I'm in :) Hmmm. There are so many, that you would fall asleep if I listed them all. Some of my favourite composers were Julius/madfreak, 4Mat, Bruno, Dr. Awesome just to mention a few. Most definitely not :( I mostly listen to radio, and therefore no particular group. It was loads of fun, and the opportunity to meet a lot of people from different countries. I co-worked with different people on different occasions, and that's how I came to team up with Julius - former Mad Freak. Our mental instability and high level of insanity was just about on the same level, so we co-worked on quite a few projects. But if I remember correct, nothing was ever released. But DAMN did we have fun. High phone bills were not a result of many hours of chatting together - I was listening to each others ideas and modules instead. Crazy times - but there are times when I still miss the good old days :( What scene would that be ?? A lot's changed since the old dayes, so no. I'm not active in the scene, and hasn't been since 1992 - 1993 Most certainly. Martin you old wanker!! And crazier than ever I suppose (Yeah.. you know it's you I'm referring to. How the hell are ya' ?? It's been quite a few years I must say, but I assume you're still living in Dublin. Drop me a mail sometime, and let me know how you're doing. (If you read this, U can get my mail through Crown). Greets to all the old Direct members - it sure was a lot of fun. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2005 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
