However, I didn't get my first PC until 1997. By then, I had been tracking on other persons computers for a half year. The C64 is buried now, in a box in my closet. May it rest in peace... My first PC is still running, and it will be given to my father. NOw I have one of those gigahertz monsters. As for musical gear, I've had a bunch of synthesizers. None of them sound as charmy as a distorted mono brass in 8-bit in FT2. ;) Well, I do make grafix, and I've been coding too. So... Well... I guess the talent made the final descicion. I didn't really have any coding talent, but I do have a perfect pitch ear. Music was a was pretty natural choise. Anything from FT2 to VST. Mostly I've worked in FT2 (yay, I love that program), but now I have a MIDI studio and I need to run Cakewalk. Besides, FT2 doesn't work well on my WinXp system. I don't set goals. I just try to keep on doing what I think feels good all the time. I never thought that I could get any better than with "Faraway love" (for example), which won 10 different module compos on the net within four months. But now I've had three mp3.com #1 tracks (overall), so... What is next? ;) I made a vocal hiphop song where I rapped about this guy called "Mr. Doubt". It was terrible. And my big fear is that someone still has it recorded somewhere! It enhances the total experience. A demo without music would be "flat". The music and the rest completes eachother. Removing the music would be like taking one team out of a football game. Yes. I call myself a "part-time producer" at the same time as I'm a full-time musician. Music is my life, so all production are just for fun. And no, I am not a proffesional. I hope to be that one day though... It's sad that the old culture disappears. Who makes 4ch mods nowadays? It's all about MP3's now, even if the songs are XM's. For me, I make MIDI music using synthesizers. I need the MP3 format... But everytime I make an XM mod, I do release it as an XM. It's my way to honor the old scene feeling. =) I love "Ambrozia" by Jogeir. I think it was a co-op with someone, can't remember who though. And I've always liked the energic songs of Destiny. A few years ago, my biggest dream was to join them... ;) And I like calm songs from artists like Awesome (he's one of the best imho) and Elwood. Well... I like the usual stuff, I guess. I have already done that. Check out www.mp3.com/viklund and the CD "eXtended Modules". Not a big hit on mp3.com, but for anyone who like my old mods it's an hour of nostalgy. ;) Oh, that list would be to big to write here. I listen to a lot of music, mostly trance. To be honest, not very much, except for making me discover the computer music. I spent one year listening to 4ch amiga mods on my grandfathers computer, but as for the scene itself... I came in 1996-97, a bit too late for the "rush". However, I can thank the Amiga for my music career today... =) Not really. I've stepped aside to let new talent step forward. I do appear on the chats every now and then though, and I've released a few mods last year. However, I will always be a tracker at heart... I'm sure that I'll be releasing mods a few years forward too. =) Yay, of course... I'd like to send greets to all the old friends! Plastik, AI Crew, all buddies in Kosmic, everybody that I used to chat with that has dissapeared now, Maelcum, Wayf, and of course to my big idols in Destiny. You all rock... =) MisterX of modplug.com, Novus, Josh, Damien and the modarchive.com crew, Vincenzo, everyone... And yeah, mom and dad. *kisses* Thanks for making me the person I am today. I miss you! Hope you are all doing fine! I'm still around, hope we'll meet again. Damnit, I have a tear in my eye... ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2002 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
