  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • Very early by playing silly games on some friends' computers.. :-)
Before I had a computer I saw a demonstration of the Gravis Ultrasound on a
computer fair in 1994, where they showed demos. I was really impressed and I
immediately knew that I wanted to have such a soundcard to create music.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Bevor having my first PC? Just a Game Boy :-)
Unfortunately I didn't have any other computer before my 486 PC.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Simple reason. I'm not good in drawing and didn't have time for coding, because
of making music. Well, I just felt that this was the right thing to do. Let the
computer play the music instead of using my humble skills in playing the violin
and concentrate on the thing that interested me most: composing. I realized
some years earlier that I'm capable of "thinking out" melodies.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • Ultratracker to start (does anybody remember this proggie? :-))
Then FT2. Tried out many other programs - never satisfied or too lazy to learn
    'em.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • There is no goal except improving skills and becoming able to express the ideas
I have. So with most of the tunes I partly reached this goal. Well, it's kinda
important, that at least some people like your music, but I think this comes
automatically if you do something you like yourself. So winning at parties
(only small ones though) turned out to be a nice side-effect, but was never
    the goal.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • No, because I only finish the tunes when I'm positive about the ideas. Of course
there's some amount of crap on my hard disk. Also, there is some novice stuff
I shouldn't have released, or some tunes that actually have never been released,
but they were part of the learning process and are the result of a creative
process. So I like to think back or even listen to them once a while.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • It makes the demo/game more interesting than it actually is. A bad soundtrack
can spoil an otherwise good demo, and a good soundtrack can save a bad demo.
Music entertains, builds the mood, supports the visuals, pleases the ear (well,
maybe not..). Just watch a demo without music to recognize its value!

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • Well, I actually would like to. I just often didn't have the time recently.
Right now I would, but I need to get into the right mood first.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • mpeg is ok, since internet has become faster. Anyway, it's always interesting
to see how a tune is done, and nice to play it in the original tracker (just
    for the feeling..:-))

midi: well, that format serves a different purpose.. You need a sound generating
hard- or software to play, so such a piece of music doesn't sound always the same.
But of course it's nice having such tiny files. I don't use midi anyway.

wav: well, you only need that if you want to edit your tune with other software,
put some effects on it and thinks like that. There's no use for wav when u want
    to share music.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Mostly demotunes, e.g. Second Reality, Dope, The Fulcrum, Heaven Seven, Alien
Sex Clone just to name a few, but there are innumerable i like. I would have
to go through my demo collection to count them all.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • No, not planning. but would be a nice thing to do.

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • My favourite bands are Radiohead, Massive Attack, Lamb, Air...
I listen to the new CD from Barbara Morgenstern these days.
For some contrasts I like Faith No More, classical CDs, Paul Oakenfold,
for some "nostalgia" Queen and Pink Floyd

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Virtually nothing. My last amiga/c64 impression was at Mekka 1999 (I actually _was_
impressed by some of the productions shown, though)

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Not really - but I might come back soon...

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Wrote too much for having done so little for the scene.. but who cares..
