C64, that I used to play games with. Oh, and my dad had this hardcore PC with like 640k of memory and a harddrive! That's just what I kind of fell into, eventhough I'm quite into design aswell, no good with pixelling though. But yeah, music was and is a big part of my life I guess. Noisetracker, Startrekker, OctaMED and Protracker 2.36 in particular. On the C64 I've been using Groovy Beat, DMC .. uhm, and JCH's Newplayer in particular. On the Gameboy, I started with Musicbox, but I'm nowadays using Carillon Player and Little Sound DJ. There's been quite a few over the years, but in retrospect I don't really like them nowadays, so... I don't know! Uhm, I guess I've done some tunes that I'm not proud of at all. For example, various covers that are supposed to have the right notes but don't. But to be honest, my memory isn't very good, so I don't remember many tunes at all! It all depends, naturally. Sometime, the game/demo is totally uplifted by a good tune, and sometimes the code, graphics, concept, or whatever, is the thing that makes the difference. In general, I find audiovisual stuff more interesting than only audio or visual stuff standalone though. I'm currently composing and performing as Goto80, doing chip-music, videogame-stuff, c64, gameboy, etc, and I have another alias, Extraboy. That's more about hi-fi electronica, drum'n'bass, jazz, electro, and so on for www.subnatura.com. Both of the projects are for both professional and leisure purposes. Well, I think of demos as something that artistically demonstrates what a specific piece of hardware can do. I like hardcore tweeking outside the general hardware, fooling the hardware to do stuff it's not supposed to. Most pc-demos and alot of amiga-demos, is about using default-drivers, making it compatible with various hardware-configurations, and I think that's lame as fuck! If you're calling it a demo, anyway. I guess most demos today more should be looked upon as musicvideos with a limited budget. And, hehe, to answer the question: mpeg and wave is lame, general midi is .. well .. it's a bit better for demo-purposes I guess. Hmmm! No, not really. :) I've got an album coming out on Rebel pet set records, called Commodore Grooves, with C64/Amiga-tunes and a Gameboy-song aswell. Various soundtracks to 1970's pornomovies, Drexciya, The Advent, Dr Higgins, Prince Far I, Amon Tobin and Telefon Tel Aviv. A life, friends, a hobby.. Yeah! Mostly on C64 I guess. Fuck off lamers! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2005 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
