I got immediately Soundtracker and began to compose my first tunes, with the original samples distributed with Soundtracker (ST-01,...:), and made some tries with Sonix, Future Composer,... in 1992, I got the perfect Protracker... I discovered Deluxe Paint and began pixelling some pics. I began also learning Assembler 68000 on SEKA. Then, in late 1993, I bought an AMIGA 1200. Wonderful:) Always trackin' on Protracker, and drawin' pics on Deluxe Paint, and then Personal Paint and Brilliance, and always codin' a little on Asm'One... In 1996, I began composing a few tunes on the brilliant THX Sound System (now AHX) by Abyss. In 1997, I finally bought a PC with an AMD K6 200 MMX, keeping of course my AMIGA 1200 with 68030... and began composing some multichannel tunes on Fasttracker 2, etc... Humm, my case is particular, as I'm not only making music, but ALSO gfx and coding... oops:) First Soundtracker, then Noisetracker, and then Protracker on Amiga. Some tries on the awful Sonix, on the interesting Future Composer, and on the quite popular Octamed, too. Now mostly using Fasttracker 2 on PC. Not so simple question:)... You often stay unsatisfied by some parts of your compositions... but I'm quite satisfied of most of my chiptunes, and of bigger tunes like "Grenadine whirlpool", "Sounds like the sun", or "Funky fingers"... Not especially........... It's an essential part of the success of a demo or game... The music install a special atmosphere, and if the music doesn't fit good to a demo/game, then a well coded production can be ruined... I'm still composing sometimes, for leisure purposes... BUT it happened that composed for commercial reasons (jingles). The format of the music is not that important... with any of them you can compose a masterpiece... the MP3 is surely a wonderful one, as now any music piece can be spreaded easily, with a perfect sound quality. About the trackin' scene so... my favourite modules are some tunes by Jogeir Liljedahl like "Living in a dream",... the best tunes by Audiomonster ("The Song", "Canal Green"), the funky masterpieces by Moby ("Elekfunk",...), etc... in fact, I've so many favourite tunes !!!... Nope, I don't think so... I love acid jazz bands like Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies,... some poprock bands like Garbage, Blur,... and also Trip Hop like Portishead, Morcheeba, Bjork, Archive. With the scene, I was able to use my creativity my some interesting people on stunning productions... so that's sure it was a really good experience. I'm still a bit active, as I go sometimes to some parties... but I'm not as active as 4/5 years ago, that's sure. Now, I just compose some tunes for the few prods of my groups, and for party music compos... when I find the time to finish them :) Humm... I'll greet all the guy I met with the demoscene, and all the contacts I had when I was swapping on Amiga (around 200 contacts, quite a lot, eh:)... So, helloes to Moone, Made, Moby, Clawz, Rez, Red Ribbon, Floyd, Radix, Loonie, Mr. King, Rahiem, Chorus, Vocal, Reflex, Suny, Zebig, Doh, Puh, Gandbox, Vodka, Tetsuo, BipBip, Mellow-D, Colorbird, Gryzor, Zaltor, Xulax, Theo, Thug, Viper, Sound Aestesis, Muffler, Mushies, Yolan, Slaine, Eloy, Oxbow, Data, Noodle, Dizzy, Whiskas, Hol, Vim!, Trasher, Chromag, WillBe, Djamm, Lluvia, DrYes, Traven, Wipe, Slummy, Zack, etc.... there are so many ones, I can't remember all the handles now !:) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2001 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
