    Handle: Hi-Lite

Group: Tristar & Red Sector Inc.

Date of Birth: 14th of Octobre, in the year of 1973

  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • I always was interested in Video games. So I´m some kind of Pioneer and were
about to witness the origins in the shape of Ralph Baers "Pong"-Console and the
Atari 2600. Later on i was the proud owner of the C64, Amiga 500 ,PC, ... My major
interest was gaming but later on I became a true Design-Freak and still I am. I
don´t play Games that much but always have a close look on every Game released
since the past ´til now. Judging the Design.

I dunno exactly but should be around 1983...

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Including Game-Consoles: A "Pong"-Console, Atari 2600, C 64 , Amiga 500, Playstation I,
    Playstation II, and different PCs

Except of gaming: I started creating Graphic-Designs and later on learned to create Music.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Creating muscial environments was the best way to transport my feelings into virtual
media. I also made Graphicdesigns and still do but the profession of the musician
was majorly honored by the public.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • I started composing Music using Rock- and Soundmonitor on the C64. Later on I bought
an Amiga 500 and bought(!!!) the Soundtracker v1.o. That was the point when everything
started... Later on I changed to the upgraded versions like Protracker by Mahoney&Kaktus
and so on. In the meantime I´ve even used "Music" (by the Codemasters) for the Playstation I.
Nowadays I´m mainly using Fruity Studio or CuBase on the PC.

Except of the binary coding using Sound- and Rockmonitor I loved all the Programs I´ve been
using but my deepest regards goes to Propellerheads for the creation of Fruity Loops. I truly
love this program-if you don´t you don´t know what creating Music is all about!

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • I´ve never been keen on getting popular or whatever, so there has never been any Goal to reach.
The most popular Track that I´ve created should be the "Purple Shades"-Chiptune on the Amiga 500.
As far as i know it is the second most used Chiptune in Amiga-History. Well, my favourite self-made
Protracker-Module is "Moving States"-but I don´t know if it ever was released in any way.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • Well, it´s not a tune I don´t like to remember. It´s the release of the Cyberlogik-CDs by TRSI
Rec. - they always used the worst Tracks I´ve created and mutilated them through the "mastering".

I don´t want to harm Uyanik! or anyone else involved in "Cyberlogik" or TRSI Rec. but if you spent
year after year composing and arranging the most impressive sound you can hardly create and those
are getting raped, it´s no fun!

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Music is the essence of emotion - the salt, the spice. The Transporter of feelings and moods.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • Yes, I´m still composing but mainly for leisure purposes. I really would like to do some professional stuff again, so: If anyone is looking for good Music for the own production, contact me!

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Well... I like them!

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Speaking about Computer-Tunes there are no specific tunes but I´m a true fan of Rob Hubbard
(C 64) and Chris Huelsbeck (also from my Hometown: Kassel, Germany). In the Amiga-Scene there
were a lot of HQ-Musicians, like 4-Mat / Anarchy, Jesper Kyd / The Silents,
Romeo Knight / Red Sector Inc., Dr. Awesome / Crusaders, Brainbuck / Crusaders... a never ending list.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • I would love to do this. Unfortunately I´ve lost about one Terrabyte of Musicdata during
the years but ´still got plenty of Tracks. If anyone is interested to support me in this
    quest: Contact me!

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • I like for example the Music of Jimi Hendrix and John Lee Hooker in the old school section as
well as Dilated People, Common, The Roots, Ursula Rucker, Chemical Brothers, Lunatic Calm,
Citizen King, Filter, Staind, Dub War, Daniel Bubret and so on...

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Well...not much I suppose. It was a great feeling to be respected all over the
world... to be "someone". But that´s it!

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No, I´m not. but I would like to... as mentioned before: I invite everybody to
    contact me!

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Yes, I want to greet all those great people that I met during Amiga-History. Especially my
good Friend Zodiac (Vision Factory). Travelling trough the past there are also some other
names I remember: Nett Taylor from Australia, Scott (Mozart) from Boston, The Junker
Brothers (Smeggma) from Sweden and everyone else.

One last request: I am looking for a person since about ten years. Her name is Tammy Williams
from Tamper / Virginia. She is an ex-U.S. Army member and was stationed in Germany during
1996 - 1999 but then went back to the States. Can anybody help me finding her? Please
contact me if you have any informations!
