  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • It all started in the early 80ies with a Commodore VIC-20. Playing
games was my initial interest, but it quickly switched over to
music when I heard all the great stuff that was being made with the
C-64. I tried doing music on the 64 too, but it never got to be serious
before the Amiga entered my bedroom in 1989 i think.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Vic-20, C64. Played games mostly. Feeble attempts of making music on
the C64, but it's not even worth mentioning really.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Probably because I've always been a rhythm-junkie ever since I was born.
My mother has told me how I used to sit and swing from side to side whenever
I heard ANY kind of music. Later i was an active dancer for many years and
when I finally hooked up with Anders & Lars Hamre (Amiga Freelancers, creators
of protracker) it kind of went automatically in that direction. :)

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • On the Amiga it was Protracker only (also soundtracker, but hey...)
On the PC iv'e done a couple of tracker tunes in FT2. Other than that
it has been mostly MIDI projects created with Cakewalk,Cubase and
    nowdays I use Nuendo.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • I never did reach my goal with my amiga tunes really, and i still
haven't. It's probably a bit sad, but I never really managed to create
exactly what I wanted with the amiga. It sure was extremely happy and
fun times, and I sure did learn a lot from it, but musically i never
created any gold. I think i was happy with bits and pieces from here
and there, but there was always things that never came toghether
    for me I guess.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • Hell yeah, a lot of them, I guess. "Addiction" for instance. whattaf**k
is going on there. Haha... I haven't got a clue! It's probably one of my
first, but still. No excuse! :)

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Alpha and Omega. At leas for a DEMO. Nowdays certain game genres can
do fine without music, but it sure is important in oneplayer adventure
games and such. Having worked in the games industry for many years I
can see both the positive and negative effects of music. Mostly positive
of course. A DEMO on the other hand, wouldn't interest me one bit if it
wasn't for the music. In my eyes they were almost like music videos.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • Yes, I'm still composing... professionally. Games, TV, Radio, Commercial... The lot.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?
  • You mean music created with real instruments and not samples / tracked music?
I love it! Couldn't live without it. Allthough I have good memories from the
Amiga days, I truly appreciate that time has brought us onto new mediums.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Don't really remember the names of many modules, but guess i remember some:

    - Bruno - Green Marlboro, Listen, One Way Ticket, Stor och liten, Free From Guitar
    - Uncle Tom - Run The Gauntlet, Poseidon, Spell Amelioration
    - Walkman - Klisje paa klisje
    - Audiomonster - Florence
    - Codex - Technolife. Memory Dust
    - Dizzy - Banana Split. Girl From Ipanema
    - Jogeir - Variations, Mixified
    - Anders Hamre - Sovereign Solemnity, SRL, Bonus Tractor
    - Uncle Tom - Run The Gauntlet, Poseidon, Spell Amelioration

These are probably just 0.01 percent of the great modules I heard
through the years, but u know.. the age is getting to me, so you have to
    excuse my amnesia. :)

Oh, and of course... Almost everything from Nuke/Spaceman & Heatbeat.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Nope

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Jamiroquai, Stevie Wonder, BT, Ralph Myerz & The Jack Herren Band, Snoop,
Dr. Dre, Bootsy Collins, Commodores, Ronny Jordan, Craig David, Royksopp,
Morcheeba, Morrissey, Pat Metheny Group, Nils Landgrens Funk Unit,
Stephen Simmonds, Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, Los Amigos Invisibles,
Eric Benét to name a few.... ;)

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Many years of hilarious fun and... when I come to think of it: it actually
gave me the professional career that I have today.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No, I'm afraid not.

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Big mugs of pee fly out to the crazy french people Walt & Mack, all my
norwegian lunatics jogeir, joachim, jack, mikael, geir, shorty, Chrismel,
Rune Johnrud, Lars Hamre and of course Anders Hamre (R.I.P my friend!)
Decibel Desperados will re-emerge one day!! :)
