I met a meo/abyss in 1993 in real life, since he was visiting his cousin which was a good friend of mine and he drew my attention on protracker with his selfmade chiptunes. protracker, fasttracker 1, x-tracker (only 3-4 finished tunes), fasttracker 2 (plenty), madtracker2 (little), skaletracker (little), renoise. I never set myself a particular "goal", so i never reached anything alike. There are too many tunes i'd rather not like to remember, which are the majority of my hardcore tunes. But i guess they were rather okay for the time they were released, it's just that this kind of music was very fashionable and "in" back in its time and therefore dies or loses value pretty quickly again. It's an element being just as important as all the other ingredents. Only a decent balance of all ingredents makes up a reasonable product. From 2000-early2003 i was pretty much idle concerning music-writing, but since a few months I sometimes write some stuff with renoise again, as nowadays software possibilities caught my interest again. But my activity today is nothing compared to the one i had back in 1993-2000, where i wrote tunes for several hours on a daily basis. So it's only for leisure purposes still, basically because i don't know _how_ to earn money with my stuff. I guess it's impossible to earn money with _my_ music at all. :( Without compression methods like mpeg, it would be nearly impossible to make music broadly available on the net, because it would be either too huge to download or would be to exotic in terms of playback compatability, since a lot of musicians use hardware midi equipment and a diversified spectrum of music related creation programs. Really hard to tell, as i haven't listened to any mods/xms or alike since probably 1999. All tunes being released nowadays are mp3 or ogg, so no more mods for me. Really can't think of anything right now, sorry. no. i don't think there's the need for something like that. hmm. you're not asking for my selfwritten one i hope, cause there aren't any. however one of my alltime favourites are certain titles from artists like: patrick lindsey (ex bass/silents) aphex twin chris liebing aim .. and some others, as there is plenty of good music around. pleasure & amusement. the "scene" got very strange during the past years for me. a lot of things have changed and it seems that to me that it is slowly dying. it also lost its special flavour because almost everybody stopped releasing open source, which again has the effect that it become a bit boring (at least for me). greetings go out to the little minority out there, that could have some pleasure with my stuff. thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2005 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
