Group: Gunnars Farvebio(tm) Date of birth: 27-03 1971 I got my first computer in 1983. It was a Marathon32 (with 2k) which is a ZX81 clone with some minor changes, ex .sound. (Its identical to Lambda and Power 3000). I had no games first, so therefore I got introduced with Basic programming together with my father. 1983: Marathon32 1985 Commodore64 1989 Amiga500 1994 Amiga1200 1996 PCs I did everything... I started with programming in 1983 when I got my first computer. Later I got a C64 and found SID music very interesting and started with my own editor to make music. I also draw, but most on paper and painting. Sometimes did I also draw the GFX in my demos. A lot - from the C64 days till now... Latest I used Cubase, but now I prefer Renoise. Most used in the "good" days were Noisetracker(or protracker... so many variants..) and Fasttracker II. ehh... I still have a naive idea to reach something.... but thats just a motivation.. There are many and also many reasons..... Music is to add atmosphere. It can't replace or apologize/compensate for lack of code or gfx, but in the other hand can bad music destroy the full impresion of great code/gfx. I try to find som times to play with Renoise and sometimes just playing om my keyboard. I haven't done any finished songs for years... eh... formats??? Thats has nothng to do with the music.... ;) Good music is good music no matter of the technology... But sadly I think that since music-equipment is cheap enough for everybody to buy, a lot of rubbish is released because eveybody can produce music now... I old days, when it was harder to release something, it forced the artists to fight harder and get more practice, and only the best ones got thru the eye of the needle to release somthing. We were like spoiled kids back in the 1980's with all those great C64 tunes... Hubbard, Galway etc... And the early 1990's brought a lot of great Amiga modules... I have burned some CD's now and then for fun.. but not for release. It varies now and then... But Vangelis, Jarre, Shubidua, Ultravox, Kraftwerk and most classic composers are always important for me. C64 gave me alot! I grew up there and i still like that machine! The Amiga made my music and programming skills develop alot. My professional programming job would not be possible if I didnt learn all this demo programming on Amiga.. Not really.. only some 256 bytes intros... and a few Amiga routines to contribute for my friends demos.. Real life takes up most time now: - Full time work (and with programming... ;) ) - Familly life (married since 2004) - Maintaining and repairing our house etc.. - Christian activities in the local congregation of Jehovas Withnesses since 2001 Thanks to everybody who made the scene days great fun. Nice to meet alot of people at copyparties or just by phone and scrolltexts.. Big apologize to everyone I might have offended in some ways... especially ex.group memebers which works I might have ignored or not appreciated. Sorry... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This interview was kindly sent by Kollaps to Curt-Cool in 2012-01 - Thx ! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
