I have been interested in doing stuff with computers ever since. C-64, which I used mostly for playing games and some easy programming stuff with Basic. :) Hmm.. Well, I've been playing guitar since I was eight years old so composing music also with computers was a natural decision. Mostly FastTracker2, which is still my favourite. Nowadays I have also more advanced programs like Reason, Logic Audio and Nuendo, but for pure composing purposes I still like to do it in the old way with tracker. Hmm. I'm a perfectionist so I've never been fully satisfied with any of my songs so far. There are some tunes that came close to that at that time but nowadays they don't feel so great anymore since I've (hopefully, at least) evolved a bit in several areas what comes to music quality. Many of them, for sure. There are bunch of horrible songs I've made in the past when I was new to composing music with computers. Basicly all the songs made during the first year are the ones I don't want really to listen to anymore. Depends on the game or demo, of course. Sometimes music can give really much to overall feeling and help to create atmosphere, mostly it's ok if it doesn't disturb what happens on the screen. Perhaps in demos music should have bigger role than in game music where too dominant music can annoy playing. Not much, but I do some songs every now and them, mostly for my group Haujobb if needed. I also play still guitar and am actually more active in real music than with computers. Those are just differend formats for the music. I don't care which format is used if the music is good. I guess you're referring to computer made music, now? Hard to name any special favourites, but as I'm Finnish I've listened a lot to other Finnish tracker musicians songs like brothomStates (ex. Dune/Orange), Groo, Distance, Carebear, Yolk & Legend who all have done some pretty great stuff. Not likely. Right now I have Depeche Mode: Ultra in my CD player. Basicly I listen almost all kinds of music... Haven't followed the scene on C64 much but Amiga gives me very nostalgic feelings. There are some golden demos made by CNCD, VD^FLT, Melon etc. that I want to watch over and over again. Haujobb has also still some activity on Amiga scene. More or less. Right now I'm not perhaps very active in sense of contributing to compos but I still like to go to nice parties all around Europe. Well, hellos to everyone in Haujobb and Slengpung staff. Which reminds me that I could advertise here a bit: Slengpung is the biggest demoscene photo gallery there is around and you should really visit it in case you haven't done so already! - Sleng up your mind! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2002 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
