C64, I wrote some tunes in basic, and using a program called "The Music System". Unfortunately I didn't write any SIDS, I didn't know how to. The Amiga, I discovered tracking. And then eventually in 1993, I discovered the PC. Being a musician was always natural. It wasn't a choice ;) C64 Basic hehe, The Music System, Protracker, Screamtracker, Fastracker 2, Impulse Tracker, Renoise. Impulse Tracker probably represents the most of my tracking hours, but I've since purchased Renoise and I'm playing with that. I personally think Renoise Rules. I'll let you know when that happens. God, that's a difficult question. If I released it, then I would have assumed someone out there would have liked it. Of course people change, and perceptions change, and something which you liked at the time of release can come back to haunt you in later years. I'm disappointed that "Next time I'll Duck" has so many downloads off my site, I liked it at the time, but now I think it's boring. Music appeals mainly to our emotional part of our brains, so the emotional response evoked by the visuals should be enhanced, illuminated and energized by the music. A small book could be written on this. But the easiest way to illustrate my answer is to listen to a demo with the sound turned down. The simple answer is yes, although I'm in a transition period at the moment because I am learning Renoise. I am working 60-70 hours a week which gives me no time to compose. I don't get to listen to much. However too many people write Mickey Mouse dance music! A lot of new mod' music out there doesn't sound like the work of a musician. In terms of computer music, I'm a sucker for old school. Jeroen Tel, Chris Huelsbeck, Necros, Hunz, Mellow-D. To be more specific would be impossible. I've been planning that for years, but time constraints have crippled me. I will probably start a band before I do that. I'm listening to lots of Lemon Jelly at the moment. I believe they are ahead of their time. Not much, a bit of mild entertainment and inspiration. I got more out of the games ;) I'm doing the odd thing for Fairlight. More music coming soon, I promise ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2002 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
