I got myself a Lazer200 shortly after, and as I was confirmed in church, I bought a C64 from the money I got from my confirmation-party. From here, the rest is history. :) 1. Lazer200...'85 - Tried some games on it. I think I had 2 games. :) 2. C64 ..'87 - Games, games and games. I blew the computer, as I tried to solder some wires to it, in order to use it as a controlcentre for New year's eve rockets... 3. Amiga 500....'91 - Games, games and games. 4. Amiga 2000...'92 - It had a harddisk, which was totally new for me back then! I started to compose music on this machine. 5. Amiga 1230...'94 - I continued composing on this one, but I also started using it for Internet, because the internet was really on the move back then. 6. Amiga 4060...'97 - My current machine. I still compose (occasionally :) and use it heavily for internetting. Hehe....because I played music in my sparetime, I think. I also used to draw a lot, but I have never been practicing it on computers very much. As I started to compose on computer, my music-taste has really changed dramatically. Previously I used to like only metal, but now I listen to all styles, more or less. Humm...I tried several. I started with Aegis Sonix, I think the name was...Then I skipped it in favour of good 'ole Soundtracker, and now I am stuck to one of the clones, Protracker, as so many of us are. I tried some multichannel-trackers aswell, and I think I will start making some music in Digibooster pretty soon, because it seems like it's turning into becoming the de-facto standard in multichannel-composing on Amiga. I haven't reached my goal yet. If you mean, with which module I think I have made a tune that describes a certain style very perfect, then it has to be the Paschip tunes, who I think are perfect chiptunes. :) Hahah...yeah...many! Simply because they don't live up to my talent anymore. But, there is a difference between tunes I think are really crap, and tunes that SOUND like crap.....Eh...I will explain: To many people, my older tunes might sound like crap all together as one, but to me there are many different things, that separates the modules into several classes. For instance I like "Grand Prix" much....It sounds like shit, but I got my sampler back then, and it's the first module where I have used any of my own samples. So in that way there are several modules that stand out as being milestones in my development as a musician. Well....Imagine a demo with no music.....it has to be one hell of a demo, to be so interesting that you'd stay in front of the screen all the time, doesn't it? It's difficult to preset what value music has for productions...but as for demos, I think music is often set much lower than it ought to be....hence many demos have really bad music.....These demos fall, because of the music, which could have been lifting them much higher, if the music had been better. Concerning games, I think music in games are maybe not as important as in demos, because in games you DO something as you play, so you might not need the music to get into a certain mood. But it helps a lot! I compose only for scene-purposes. And I don't compose as much as I used to, mainly because I work much outside the scene at the moment. Depends on the piece of music, doesn't it? :) I can't comment on all pieces of music. :) But ok, Mp3 is cool, but hazardous to the music industry. I use it myself, however. Wave....well...another sample format. Nothing else to say about that. Midi....humm....if it's being played on the setup it was created on, then it might sound alright, but often it sounds like crap, if it's being played on another system. But of course, MIDI is essential for the professional electronically minded musician. Heh...the tunes from "Desert Dream" are the best! I also like the tunes from the C64 game, "Krakout"... And oh, there are several other classics, which we don't have enough RAM here to mention. :) I actually did, but never copied, nor released it. It's only for private use. Heh...but once I get a good idea of how to improve the 8-bit sound quality in my mods, I will certainly make a remastered CD. Watch out for it! :) As I stated before, I listen to all kinds of music now.....but often these artists can be found in my CD player: Astral Projection. Sarah Brightman. Jean Michel Jarre. Transwave. AC/DC. Various techno/acid/hardcore compilations. Synthesizer compilations. Various metal CDs. The AMiga scene (the only one I was ever part of) gives me a rather funny excuse of how to spend my sparetime. Being in a group as IRIS is really great, because we are friends and act like that when we are having a meeting, attending a party, etc. So I guess the magic word is: Friendship. Yes. My group, the scene on AMiga.
