Group: None. Date of birth: 10 09 74 It all started with video games for me. This was back in the mid 80s. I don't remember when I got my first C64 (somewhere between 85 and 89) but I think I got my first Amiga in 89. My memory fails me. A couple of Amiga 500s, a 2000, a 600 and a 1200, and a couple of PCs between 94 and 99. I still have an Amiga 600 lying around for sentimental reasons but it hasn't been switched on for at least three years now. Personal preference I guess. Bigger passion for music. Zero talent for coding. Back in the Amiga days I used numerous so-called trackers. Music-X was my first encounter with MIDI back in 91 or 92. In recent years I have been going forth and back between various PC MIDI sequencers. Primarily Cakewalk, Cubase and Logic. No Amiga module really gave me that feeling... I think. I don't know. It's a long time ago now. There were some Amiga pieces I was happier about than others but like everybody else I guess I always tried to improve, one step at the time. A lot of them for a lot of reasons. For me as a musician it's probably a lot more important than your average guy. I do. Professionally. Although not full-time at the moment. I'm building a new project studio which, wife and kid aside, is top priority right now. Should be up and running early next year. I'm not sure what you mean by that. If you are refering to Amiga modules I don't really remember. The last couple of years I was using an Amiga, Dizzy made a lot of stuff that blew me away. But there were a lot of talented guys on the Amiga and they all had they own thing going. Hell no. A lot. Various drum 'n' bass artists Various underground house artists Various contemporary jazz artists Last few albums I bought was: Brian Transeau -- ?? (Latest/new) 4 Hero -- Two Pages Reinterpretations Nick Holden -- From Within Jonny L -- Magnetic Dimension -- 11th Dimension Pat Metheny & Jim Hall -- Pat Metheny & Jim Hall George Duke -- After Hours Philippe Saisse -- Halfway 'til Dawn Simon Phillips -- ?? (Latest/new) A lot I guess. We were so passionate back then, weren't we? When I think back I sometimes get a bit sad because growing up you leave that kind of pure and intense teenage passion behind. I miss walking around being an arrogant cock of a so-called Amiga musician, thinking I was on top of the world, not knowing how much of a dick I was. Yeah, I miss the Amiga days, although I would never ever do it again. Not at all. It's been many years now. I didn't even know there still was a scene. Much respect to everybody who contributed making the Amiga days such a special memory for a lot of people. Me included. I think everybody who was there will treasure the memory for a long time to come. It was a bit hardcore at times but that's what passion is all about, isn't it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2001 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
