  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • Actually it started, as I friend of mine got a C-64. We were mostly playing games like Choplifter or the first edition
of Flight Simulator by Sublogic. Because I couldn't afford a C-64, I got an Armstrad....AArrrgh. It was OK for learning
BASIC, but not for playing games and doing music...

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Well, the Armstrad. After that an Atari ST, then Amiga, PC. Nowadays I work on a Macintosh G5 2x1,8GHz, still
owning all of my previous machines (At least the ones with character -> All except of the PCs)
Some years ago, I even bought a C64 (Now that I could afford it ;). From the Atari ST upward I composed music or played games.
Well, all the things that you do with a computer...

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Because I was always doing music before, e.g. playing the guitar in bands. It was a logical consequence.
Whereas I nowadays do some GFX as well. But just for websites, like mine: www.moreno-music.com.
In the scene the job should be done by the pros!!!

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • Well in the old days: Romuzak on C64 (I used to compose on a friends C128). On the Amiga: Soundtracker and Protracker!
On the Atari ST and PC I used C-Lab Creator (Later Emagic) and Steinberg Cubase. Nowadays I use Apple Logic 7.2.2 on my
    Macintosh G5.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • Well. I never reached my goal, because I always kept on hunting for the perfect tune!

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • I cant't remember most of them, but just because so much time past. But it's always nice to dig them out on
my harddrive and listen to them. There certainly are many tunes, that don't meet my nowadays expectations and standards.
The ones I really don't like are the ones that sound like a clone of other tunes. (I always got inspired quite quickly ;)

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • It has the same value as music can have in a film. If you do your job right, you transport a feeling that underlines
the picture perfectly. That's what makes it unique! Just think of watching a movie or a demo without the music!
A major keypart would be missing...

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I made a business out of my hobby. I did some tunes in Frankfurt at Logic Records and
composed several Chillout and Ambient tracks for the Cafe Del Mar Series in the 90's. Nowadays I concentrate on commercials, imagefilms,
movies and (still) music-production. I have a small studio in a studiocomplex with some other guys in Munich/ Germany.
I also worked for a company called Mona Davis Music, that did the McDonald's worldwide campagne "I'm loving it" and
several other compositions for film, commercials...

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • No problem for me! Couldn't work without them!!!

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • I always loved the music of Unkle Tom (Was it: Mental Hangover??) He was very very innovative.
    Dr. Awesome as well. 4Mat?

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Actually: No!

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Tool, System Of A Down. James Horner, George Fenton and John Williams as my favourite composers.
All kinds of other styles. Mostly because of professional reasons.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • The inspiration to compose music electronically and being a part on my way to my business!
I got to know some guys like Jeff/Animators back then , with whome I still work together nowadays. He lives on Ibiza
and we did several tunes over the past 18 years. "Levitation - More than ever people" on Cafe Del Mar e.g.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Well, I am still a bit in Haujobb, but more as a composer for the parties. I did the sounddesign and titletrack for
the Evoke 2006 party in Cologne for example. But I mostly don't have the time to compose for demos nowadays...Who knows, maybe
I do something again in the future.

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • First of all to my good friend and companion Maxx/HJB, with whome all started. And of course to all at Haujobb, esp. XXX.
Then "unser Papa": Hellraiser of Venom/Agnostic Front! and all the sceners who might remember me....
See ya all at "Breakpoint 2007"!!!
