Date of birth: The 9th of may 1973

  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • When I got my first C-64, I guess it was 1983 or 1984.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • I got my first C-64 1983 or 1984, then I changed to C-128.
Some years later, I think 1987 I got my first Amiga (Amiga 1000),
but I still used the C-64 more. Changed from A1000 to A500, then
to A1200. I was then one of those hoping for a new amiga, but I
gave up the waiting and bought myself a PC.

Well, my C-64 is in the basement and so is my Amiga. I use CCS64
    and WinUAE emulators instead.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Mostly because by programming skills are lousy, but I've been into musics
all my life. There's nothing in the world that I enjoy more than music.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • C-64: Soundmonitor, Rockmonitor, Beatbox, and just last week I started to use
AMP (Advanced Music Programmer). Amiga: Soundtracker, Noisetracker,
Protracker, TFMX-ED, Deltamusic, Sidmon, Digital Mugician. PC: Cakewalk
    (Midi), Deltamusic.

I've made most of my songs in Protracker and Cakewalk

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • Well, I kind of like all my songs. If I would think they were bad, I
would make then different. I guess for me I'm satisfied with making a good
melody, I don't care much about the rest of the arrangement.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For What reason?

  • Nope.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • It's half of the game for me. Listen to "Drakan" by Barry Leitch, or just
ANY of Chris Hülsbecks game soundtracks.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I'm still composing using AMP in CCS64 emulator, Deltamusic for PC and
Cakewalk. Only for my own pleasure...

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Well, for games the new age of music fits well, but they lack the good
melodies found in the C-64 music. They still have the best melodies
    I've every heard.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Turrican 2 Title (Amiga TFMX song by Chris Hülsbeck)
Baby of Can Guru (C-64 Intro song by Chris Hülsbeck)
Mindsmear (C-64 song by Barry Leitch)
Magic Tubes (Noisetracker module by Titan of NorthStar)

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Yes, but not to sell, just for myself. I can't imagine anyone who would
    buy it anyway... :)

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Mike Oldfield, Jan Hammer, Amanda Marshall, Kim Wilde, The Cranberries,
Merril Bainbridge, Mark Knopfler, Clannad, and many others. I have more
than 250 CD's with very variated styles.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Alot of good memories and nice friends, I'm still in touch with some of them.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Well, I guess the only thing I'm doing these days is ripping C-64 sids for
the High Voltage Sid Collection (HVSC).

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Thanks to all the good C-64 composers for all the inspiration that got me
started, and especially Chris Hülsbeck for making Soundmonitor which was
the first musicprogram I ever used. Also to all musicians I've had the
pleasure to get to know: Chris Hülsbeck, Barry Leitch, Holger Gehrmann,
Bent Nielsen and all others. Also to all my friends in the world, who was
encouraging, supportive, and just good friends. Thank you all!
