Groups: Dromex, Wildfire, Absolute!, Lego Date of birth: 27.07.1973 My interest in Computer started in the late 80´s. A good friend of mine used to have a C64 and was also part of a small Demogroup in Remscheid, where i was also born. Too bad i never had the money at that time to buy one for myself (they were so expensive in that days ... :)), so i spent nearly every day after school at his place playing cool games and also watching some demos etc. Then in Summer 1989 he got an A500, the first one i saw. I was so impressed about the graphix, the sound and the possibilities, so i decided to get some money to buy one for myself, too! At the end of the Year i was a proud owner of my first A500 :) well, that A500, after it nearly broke down in 1994 another one (which i sold later), and in 1996 i bought my first (shame on me :)) PC, mainly for making music with it. Nowadays i own an A500 again, a A1200 with a lot of extensions from my old Groupmate Booster (Turbocard, Harddrive, CD-Rom etc.) and my PC (no technical info-shit about this :)) Well, on Amiga i also tried working with DPaint, but i wasn´t that good. Coding was a bit too boring for me, and when i got my first soundtracker, it was amazing to work with the possibilities, it made so much fun, even i anyway always was a big fan of music, too. I also liked the music i´ve known from various Games and Demos and i very much liked the way of experimentating with these sounds to create my own songs. Lateron i bought a Golem-Soundmachine Sampler to make some of my own samples, too. But nowadays i´m not only in music, i´m also working with some GFX-based Programs (like Flash, Photoshop, Freehand and some others). at first i got and used Soundtracker from the great K.Obarski, lateron i got a version of noisetracker, after that the much better one Protracker. On PC i used to track with Fasttracker, and nowadays i´m using mainly Reason for creating sounds. well ... i don´t think i reached a goal with one of my modules to be honest :) I was more a fun-thing for me. There are a few i still like, even most of them are unfinished. well, probably ... but you don´t know those ones anyway ;) It´s very important! Most of the Games would be 50% less cool without their great atmospheric tunes in it (remember "Shadow of the Beast", "Lost Patrol" "Lotus E.T.C." "Turrican" etc. for example), the same to demos! Not many of the Demos i know could live without their Music in it. Would be really boring. I´ve never been that productive in composing songs, mostly a time and mood thing. but i´m still trying to compose some music. Phonk (ex-Doc Holiday) and i´m also working together as "Yakitorih", small results to be found at our page :) mp3 and ogg are very great! it´s amazing how good the quality and how small the files are. very good for music exchange, nowadays you can reach so much people with your music, which was impossible a few years ago if you wanted that in a really good bitquality. and there´s a big netaudio-scene, where you can find great into-mp3/ogg-converted musics from all over our big planet. really amazing ... Hm, i like alot of mods, really too much to list all of them. My favourite Composers on Amiga were definitely Romeo Knight, Fleshbrain, Twilight & Doc Holiday, Dr.Awesome, Jayce, Jester, S.L.L., Audiomonster, Moby, Archon, Bit Arts, Diablo, David Whittaker, Chris Hülsbeck and DJ Disco Leif (!), to name just a few. I´m actually working on a netlabel, where i would like to release a few pieces of my nowadays sounds together with a couple of friends of mine. you should definitly check out www.ideology.de :) Mostly electronic ones like Mouse On Mars, Sergej Auto, Plaid, Underworld, DJ Shadow, Hexstatic, Modernist, Boards of Canada, Daft Punk, Chemical Bros., Peaches, Neoangin, DMX Krew, Prefuse73 and Air for example, but also some old stuff from Depeche Mode, FSOL, Orbital, Beastie Boys or some Discostuff from the 70´s like Salsoul Orchestra, First Choice, Ripple, Fred Wesley, Le Chic etc., depends on my mood :) Alot of Fun, alot of Friends, alot of Inspiration, one of the best hobbies ever, trying to make my own music :) hmmm, not really in the scene i guess. I´m still doing some music somedays and i´m working on that tracker-site (www.st-00.com), a tribute to the creator of soundtracker, where you can find a little about the history of that great programm and also a couple of very good modules! But i´m also still Member of Wildfire and Lego, even both Groups are quite inactive in releasing things today, but ... who cares! :) Greets to all my dear Scenemates from the past. Especially to Booster & Ice /ex-Dromex, Frank, Tim & den Rest von WFC und meine Legojungs :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2003 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
